Every gun I ever bought on the net, or sold on the net, has to be shipped to a FFL dealer for the paperwork and background check.
Are the dems just stupid because they don't buy guns and know what is involved? Or is it just a talking 'propaganda' point?
I guess they are referring to internet ads and sales between citizens within the same locality.

It is possible to go to a gun show and buy a gun from a private seller without going through a background check, hence the 'gunshow loophole".
It is possible to advertise guns for sale on the internet and then meet the buyer face to face for the transaction, again without going through a background check, making the "internet sales" claim valid.
How much either of these options are used by disqualified people to skirt gun possession laws and obtain firearms is purely a matter of speculation. The pro-2A advocates will claim the impact is minimal, while the antis will throw out a ridiculous statistic.
Lawmakers make political hay either way, or at least they used to. Now, it's just the antis yammering with everyone else pretty much going unheard.

The whole problem is that you will never have universal background checks without total and absolute registration. If you do not have every law abiding citizens guns registered you would have a series of transaction that would be considered "grandfathered". That means that those guns purchased without a check prior to the passage of the universal background law would still be ok. If that is the case then you would never really know if a suspected illegal transaction occurred today or sometime prior to the law being passed making it "grandfathered". If there is no "Grandfathering" then those weapons will have to be registered and if there is Grandfathering, the system has a larger loophole than before.

It is a lie aimed at people who have never purchased firearms before to attempt to convince them we must have universal background checks and total registration.

A 9MM MAY expand to .45 but a 45ACP will never shrink to 9MM.
You must attribute at least part of the answer to the reality that liberal/socialist gun grabbers always tout their moral and intellectual superiority. The fly in the ointment is that they fill their brains with all manner of illegal drugs continually, thus significantly lowering their intelligence level and ability to reason. Add that to the fact that one must be terminally lacking in common sense to think that socialism works so well and is flourishing around the world and ....viola! Internet gun sales look so appealing.
@Mike1956 highlighted the facts concerning the mythical mass murderer searching out a gun on the internet or gun venue.
The final reality is that there is absolutely no need for such self-incriminating activities. In most socialist-failed cities across America, a felon getting a gun is no more difficult that a quick stroll through the neighborhood. When caught and convicted of a felony, the same idjit simply goes out and procures another illegal gun. When caught the second time (felon with a gun) the liberal judges sentence said idjit to 30 days because you wouldn't want to agitate your voter base.

"O'Rourke on Friday released a sweeping plan to combat gun violence, which included bringing back the assault weapons ban, working with Congress to enact background checks, a gun-licensing and registry system and mandatory buybacks for assault weapons. The plan also included a platform to combat white nationalism.
In his return to the campaign trail on Thursday, O'Rourke vowed to concentrate his campaign on communities where he said President Trump has been "terrorizing, and terrifying and demeaning our fellow Americans."
I'm glad the Wizards of Smart have it all figured-out; just remove all of our unalienable rights, and crime will simply disappear.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

Why do people believe "assault weapons" were banned? Certain guns disappeared, but there never was a single day during the so called ban that I couldn't walk into a gun store and walk out with a brand new AR15. It wouldn't have had a threaded barrel, flash hider, bayonet mount, folding stock or 30 round mag, but it was still an AR15. 30 rounds mags were available everywhere at a higher price. was it really a ban??
