TN: Appointed Police Chief wants to ban all firearms from vehicles in Memphis

Memphis Police Department director Michael Rallings, would really like to ban handguns from cars in the crime-ridden city. But Tennessee has a robust state preemption law, so he’s appealing to Shelby County’s state legislators for help.

Memphis is run by Demarcates. Revolving door justice. The bad guys run the show and the people keep voting in Demarcates. When will parts of Tennessee see that if you let the rats represent you. You get what you vote for.

    Let me understand the logic...

Can't carry in legal "no gun" zones.

Can't secure in car when entering "no gun zone".

Carry gun must be left at home- Ah! Now I got it!
Arkancide- Three self-inflicted gunshots to the head with hands tied behind the back.

Active Shooter Response- Assess the situation, Position yourself to gain tactical advantage, Engage perpetrator violently (APE).

BUT you can't even buy a gun because it would be illegal to put it in your car to bring it home!!!!!! Not to mention that you can't ever go to a shooting range to practice or take your gun on a trip of any kind.

A few years ago our idiot city manager tried to ram through a city law to make it illegal to have a gun on city property. The effect would be the same since streets and sidewalks are all city property. Some of us got loudly active and got that one SQUELCHED, with a promise from the city Mayor that they would not consider anything like that in the future.

Come on, Memphis residents: TAKE ACTION NOW.

Just more Demo, commie thinking. I suppose that would also mean no guns in police cars. That should go over good.

Until the CC law, that was the case for everyone living in 1000 feet of a school @ShooterGranny . We Wisconsin residents had no exemption allowing for the transporting of our guns TO or FROM our homes. Still don't if you don't have a CC permit. They took the purposefully shoddy written federal guidelines and made it law here.

I, and, so many others were felons waiting to be caught. After they built the one school within 1000 feet of Highway 53 everyone using a major highway north/south was a felon waiting to be caught. I don't think that most people even realized that was the case. Two people that I heard about were arrested simply driving to and from their homes with firearms. They got false reported by angry neighbors in each case.

Laws like that are meant to harm, not help. Red flag laws are the latest variant. Knowing that I could have been arrested for exercising my 2A rights makes me hate laws that are clearly violating my personal rights.

Constitutional carry didn't get that far this year. I hope they try again next year. If it passes I'll still keep my carry permit for when I travel tho.

Maybe they should just ban criminals from having guns? Or ban using guns for use in committing a crime? Or just ban crime?

It may not have, but as long as people need permission from the gov to carry, or guns are banned from certain properties, people will continue to leave guns in vehicles.

He is doing his job. He's an appointee of the Mayor/City Council and his job is a) to keep them happy, b) to make them happy, and c) to take the heat by saying things they want but won't say because they'd loose votes by doing so themselves.
