These two loads seem very similar to me.

The Speer 135 gr 38+P Gold Dots are advertised as short barrel, but in the tests documented on the Web, both loads have similar muzzle energy, penetration, and expansion when fired from a snub.

Can't see an obvious difference.

I was just able to order a couple hundred rounds of the 125 gr +P gold dots, whereas the 135 gr versions are out of stock everywhere.

The 125 stuff probably got tested in a longer barrel. The short barrel 135gr ammo is tested in the barrels it will be shot in to give you real world results.

Keep searching for the SB stuff. It can be rare but eventually you'll get a hold of some. It took me a year of searching to get my hands on the Gold Dot SB 44 Mag.
