Alright, I just got back from the gunsmith. This is a great guy who loves working on 1911's. His own carry piece is one that he custom built himself on a Caspian frame/slide.

He took my barrel, polished the crap out of the throat. A live round drops in and falls out now if you tip the barrel. He then looked at my extractor. There appeared to be a pretty obvious amount of brass marks on the extractor, so he took it and polished it a bit as well. There was nothing else that he could think of as causing the problems.

This coming weekend, I'm taking it to the rang along with 150 rounds of Blazer Brass ammo. If I have a single FTE, she's going to Springfield for Warranty work. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Blazer Brass problems

If it were me, I would test it with at least 2 different brands of factory ammo, one of them not being Blazer Brass. I had a disturbing amount of FTF's with it, so much so that CCI replaced 2 cases of it for me.
It's a long read, but if you are interested you can read it here.
Good luck.

Interesting.....how bout some Rem. UMC? :duh:

Went through a couple hundred of 'em out at Pigeon Road week before last with my Govt Model, and no problems. Also shot up some of their .380 in my Bersa with similar results.

FWIW, though, I usually use the Winchester value pack from WalMart as my testing ammo. It's cheap, but impressively consistent.

You shooting at Pigeon Road or Tac Pro?

Looks good. Let us know. I also would suggest a couple different brands. Maybe a couple different bullet weights as well, just to check.

Well it won't stop eating on me, and I found out that I have time tomorrow....so I'm gonna put some rounds down range.

Here's what I have.

100 Rounds of Winchester White Box 230gr
50 rounds of CCI Blazer 230gr

I'm going to 50 Winchester rounds, then the 50 CCI shells, and then the remaining 50 Winchester rounds. I fihure this ought to at LEAST tell me something when I get done. If all goes well, I'll consider the problem solved......if not, off to Springfield she goes. :9:

Now I'm gonna give it a very GOOD cleaning just so there's no excuses. Will give ya'll a report tomorrow.

KD: IF I'm shooting at a range, it's usually Pigeon Rd. I've only shot at Tac Pro for my CHL certification, and while it was REALLY nice....it's a bit spendy for a college student.

I know what you mean; one of these days I'm going to have to save up for one of Tac Pro's Basic Combat Handgun classes. I'd like to go to Gunsite so as not to have the instructor picking on us "single stack optimists," but adding in the long trip puts it even further from my price range, and Bill is tolerable if you can catch him in a non-Glock-worshipping moment.
