I searched the Forum and didn't find it. Anyone have a good, simple manual I can use to show me step-by-step manual for the 1911? I'm not talking major surgery. Just replacing springs and parts I can get to easily. Thanks!

Thanks guys for the excellent resources! Websites book marked and pdf's saved. I figure my life's depending on these two 1911's so I better learn how to repair or replace parts.

American Gunsmithing Institute has a good video on the 1911. I used it to replace a worn out sear spring. I also changed the rounded main spring housing for a flat one. The video was well worth the money in my opinion.

After tinkering with it for awhile, you'll find that the 1911 is really easy to work on. Tearing it down to the bare frame and reassembly can be done in a matter of minutes. My only suggestion is to get the proper tools such as a good punch set, hammer and bushing wrench.

Thanks again guys! I just wish I still had my old 1911 for practice!
