Not exactly a defensive caliber but I dug into the ballistics of this round and wow, talk about a hand cannon. Would definitely consider this for a woods gun in the Northern Tier of the Country. :aargh4:

Nice round, converts a 1911 to a handheld artillery piece.

I converted a Glock 21 to 460 Rowland. Ya its a cannon alright. Its on the lower end of a 44 mag. 13+1 Rounds. Reloading a few 10ths of a grain off the max load published by 460rowland.com, I'm getting 230 grain xtps going about 1320-1330 fps. The only problem is a revolver goes bang every time you pull the trigger. I am not getting that with the 460 Rowland. Maybe it needs a few hundred more rounds through it to break in.

On a side note I am getting 100% reliability out of 1 of my Glock 20s (10mm) which has about 600 rounds through it now. I will be carrying that as a side arm hunting this fall. 180 grain bullet going 1300 fps.
I have thought about the 460 Rowland .. But the 45 Super is what I'm leaning toward for my Glock 21

Are you getting light primer strikes using your G21?

No I have had 1 dud with the conversion, and looking at the primer strike, it didn't look light; probably a crappy primer.
It's a beast. I reload .45 Super and have exceeded 1000 ft-lbs and it will shoot .452" .45 Colt style bullets ranging from 250-300gr. Another guy has even loaded up I think 330gr in the .45 Super. Basically I have a gen4 Glock 21 with a KKM 4 port barrel in it and have shot a 185gr to 1600 fps and a 300gr LFNGC to 1150 fps and many in between. And the 10mm guys think they're top dog!

Hello SDGlock23 - Are you referring to the 460 Rowland or 45 Super? I know you mentioned the 45 Super in your post, I just wanted to make sure, thanks...
Very hard and its very expensive. Really no reason to own one unless your rich or reload. Same goes with a 10mm
