Why would the G19M be a 3 pin and the G17M be a 2 pin?

The best thing about this for me is that if true, then there should be a good amount of good condition, used Gen4 G19 models at decent prices! I don't mind the finger grooves. I guess I am one of the guys that is a lucky fit. Well, that or I am just not discerning enough to know the difference!

I've been thinking the same thing. Cheap 19's and 23's coming soon.

It still would be nice to shoot one to see what differences can be perceived (or not) with the changes.

I hadn't found the cheap Gen 2's or Gen 3's !!!! ;-)

We don't even know if this is an accurate depiction of a possible Gen 5 G19. From the article referenced:
A picture of the G19M leaked several weeks ago to AR15.com, but the source of the photo was unknown, and it was impossible to tell if this was in fact a real 5th generation Glock, or just a very well done bit of photoshop.

Dude, it's on the internet and has been through the very precise, upstanding, and legitimate AR15.com, also heard that Brian Williams was involved in the design. IT IS SO VERY BEYOND TRUE, TAKE IT TO THE BANK!

I think somebody's been messing around in photoshop.

I'm a bit confused; I read another article about the M series and it was reported that this will not be available to the general public, but I don't understand why.

Upgrades include:
Smoother edges for better draw
Ambi slide release
Ambi mag release
Flared magazine well
and a modified trigger.

Why would this not be available to the general public? is there more to it?

Because the general public can not be trusted with all of those military assault machine upgrades.

It is all pretty confusing after awhile. The FBI and military needs to get it together and choose one....and be done with it.
Go back to a 1911 .45 and call it good.

It will probably be available as a Gen5, not as the M whatever. ..

A good theory on this was that Glock wants to see civilian relactions to the M prior to a civilian roll out in the event anychanges need to be made etc.

This would be a stupid design for a gen5, hopefully they do better. This is just a highly specialized gun for the FBI, it doesn't really offer any benefits for the typical commercial consumer.

If this is the gen 5, I'm not interested one bit. Luckily there's no evidence that this is the gen5. What's the point of this gun being available to the public? Really?

Unless you're I dunno, left handed, or a competitor that wants a better magwell on a Production gun, want a better finish or don't like the finger grooves....

So yeah, I'm all of those but left handed. I'd buy one.

Ok let me be more clear because what I said before wasn't

There are plenty of people who would like these modifications for their gun, I'm not doubting that. But do you really think this combination of mods should be the new standard? I would say absolutely not. Especially not the flared mag well

I think it would make some sense for Glock to release these as like a special edition or something, but not for the standard line

To me, this is a gen4 modified specifically for the FBIs needs, it's not a gen5, though you probably will see true ambi controls on the gen 5, I think they might change the finish. But highly doubt there will be flared magwells, I don't think they will remove the finger grooves, and I don't think they will change the barrel. Just my opinion though, I could be wrong.

If I got to pick what the combination of mods which should mark the new standard, the guns would look like this:

Firearm Gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory
Firearm Gun Trigger Gun barrel Gun accessory

I would also add the ambi slide release and two pin take-down. Aren't you glad I'm not in charge?

A G17 isn't exactly meant to be a carry gun, I doubt the 19 will have the flared magwell.

As we have seen with the Gen 3 after therelease of the Gen4, the prior model will still be available and those that don't like the 5 will have to wait for the 6, just like those of us that didn't like the 4 had to wait for the 5. :dunno:

The flared magwell presents a problem if it wasn't done right as those that want a bigger mag well may have to modify the grip anyway.

I'd buy a M frame just to put a 34 slide on.

As for the new "standard" who knows. Maybe the frame will be available with and without magwell. That would make the most sense to me.

Again, if this is a trial run before committing to a final plan for the Gen5, we may see the magwell go away.
