I've bought a TacStar and a Remington brand. If I do it again it'll be TacStar. The TacStar is one piece, I like that a lot better than the 2 piece Remington design.

I had the TacStar, worked very well - just remember, the newer 870's will have a dimple that has to be removed somehow (I drilled/dremel'd mine).

The 7 round will be slightly shorter, the 8 round will be slightly longer (than the 18.5" barrel).

Great combo. Note that the brace/sling mount was extra, but not required.

I "think" that tube dimples are only on the 870 Express. Seems I recall them being absent from the Wingmaster & Police Magnum models.

 

I just purchased a Choate 10 rnd extension for my 26" bbl. 870 Express from Midway. The fit and finish is excellent, and the price and service from Midway is always excellent. The Choate extension is highly regarded on the rem870.com forum.

Probably worth checking out that forum for some more reviews.
