Very disturbing indeed. The HIPAA laws had to be violated, if in fact the doctor didn't report any danger to authorities. In my opinion all this does is make honest people dishonest even when they have not done anything wrong and are no threat to society. I hope he sues and wins. I believe they are all wrong on this and deserved to be sued. I used to live in Ny but never again will I set foot there unless these imbeciles are gone.

Herein lies the problem with the Govt mandated "Electronic Medical Records", Obamacare, and gun control. All they have to do is say, "Back in 1999, you were prescribed X which indicates you suffer from depression or other mental or emotional issues and are barred from owning weapons" and you're done.
And, if you are former US Military, no matter if the only thing you did was be a swimming pool life guard in the local base housing = you are crazy! You cannot own a slingshot!!!!!

Everyone does realize that NY is nothing more than a testing ground for Federal gun control, right? This is exactly how they will tie it all together.
THIS is why registration is so important to Govt. It starts as "Universal Background Checks" to BUY guns. Then, they'll say "What about all the guns that were bought BEFORE UBCs?" Then you'll have to pass a background check to OWN a gun, aka KEEP your guns. This becomes registration. They will make it so penalizing for people who don't comply that they will be afraid of getting caught if they don't. They'll also pass UBCs for ammo purchases to identify people buying ammo who haven't registered guns. Add in govt controlled healthcare, mandated EHR, and they can hold anyone under a microscope to the point of manufacturing any reason they want to say you don't meet whatever criteria they dream up. Overweight? Emotional problem. High blood pressure? You're stressed. High cholesterol? Limited blood flow to the brain. Where do you draw the line when THEY are the ones drawing the line?
