Today I went to yet another GunShow.
Did the usual browsing , had a nice lunch with some of the online
guys I have come to know thru shooting get-togethers, bought
some ammo..
But this time was somehow – different.
Because this time I ventured away from PA , and went to my
previous home state of NY.
I still work in NY , but I have always had family roots in PA – and
after a year and a half of living here, I consider myself a bona fide
ridgerunner. :biggrin2:
So I found myself strangely ill at ease as i walked around the show.
I couldn't carry anything more dangerous than a pocket knife ; no
plunking down some cash ,and after 10 minutes paperwork and a
phone call - walking out with a new pistol.
( I am not allowed to even possess my own handguns in NY now. )
All the Military style rifles I love had either odd contraptions on
them , or bare muzzle ends.
I couldn't even buy spare magazines over 10 rds capacity , unless I
paid 2 or 3 times the price i am used to.
(for the few that were available)
All in All , a Bittersweet day off.
Something perhaps for those of us in Freer places to reflect upon.
