The 1917 is a finely engineered gun - just look under the sideplate and compare with later Smiths. Not tho IMO as robust a gun, tho .45acp is hardly gonna punish either.
I'd keep the 1917 for occasional enjoyment but preserve it too - the 625 being SS will take all the carry wear easily.
