Another Mayor Drops Membership in "Mayors Against Illegal Guns"

Another (small) win.
From the NRA:

Since its creation, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) has signed up a large number of committed anti-gun politicians to its ranks. It has also signed up some politicians who failed to realize the true anti-gun nature of MAIG. A number of those mayors have resigned their membership when they learned the truth.

This past week, yet another mayor, Village of Walton Hills, Ohio Mayor Marlene Anielski (R), has resigned her membership. Mayor Anielski informed the Buckeye Firearms Association of her decision, reporting that she had not realized the real agenda of MAIG. In fact, she reported, she and her husband are NRA life members!

With the ongoing effort by MAIG to mislead the public and even its own members on its true agenda, it is no surprise that some mayors are choosing to leave the group. How many more mayors don't know what MAIG is really all about?

All NRA members should ask: Is my mayor a member of MAIG? If you do not know, check the list here.

If your mayor is on the list, contact his or her office and politely let him or her know you are opposed to his or her membership in Mayor Bloomberg's radical anti-gun organization.

How could she not realize the true agenda? Did she have her head in the sand?
Proud to see only 2 mayors in the entire state of Texas! :congrats:

The liberal mecca of Austin is a given ... Hurst, Tx is a "Mid-Cities" burb between Dallas & Ft. Worth ... will have to work on that one. :twak:
With one-tenth the population of Texas, Oregon also has two mayors on the list. Complete and utter disrespect for the 2A, the Oregon Constitution, and the People.

Question: How is it possible for such politicians to have the welfare of the People at heart, if they so mistrust and fear the People?
It took them this long to realize the true agenda? The NRA exposed MAIG years ago, they must not get out much and be cut off from all forms of communication.
Excellent link so thanks! I would like to join the NRA but I'm not too crazy about the deluge of junk mail that comes with it.
Regards, :scared1:
I have to say, I'm surprised that only two Maryland mayors are on the list. Sure not surprised at the cities they run though...
Say "what"? Is this current? She just now found out? Sheesh.
In Virginia they are where I would ecpect them to be -- i.e., NOVA (a.k.a. DC-west), Norfork area, and Richmond area.

Well, what person wouldn't be against illegal guns, except criminals? Naivete perhaps, but it's certainly deception in advertising when it turns out the organization is really against all guns, all people having guns, and any control being left in the People's hands.

All of this makes me wonder if anyone in government anywhere actually reads anything anymore...proposed laws, organization literature, anything...before acting upon it?

Agree, everyone is against the illegal use of guns (except criminals, of course). Wouldn't it be excellent if that is what Mayor Bloomberg really meant....
holy crap there are a ton in florida...:(
YES & I'LL be writting E-mails to most
Idaho had one on the list and I think he was the first to get off of it, so now none from Idaho.

Actually "Mayor Will Wynn" is no longer a Mayor of Austin. The new Mayor as of June 22, 2009 is "Mayor Lee Leffingwell":

City of Austin - Austin City Council

I have not been able to find anything regarding his gun/firearm views.
Please note that there isn't a list of Idaho Mayors.
