Sen. Vitter Moves to Block Anti-gun UN

-- Please help the senator get original cosponsors on bill

Gun Owners of America 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102 Springfield, VA 22151 (703)321-8585 Thursday, July 14, 2005

Pro-gun Senator David Vitter (R-LA) is getting ready to introduce a bill that would block the United Nations from implementing gun control measures affecting U.S. citizens.

Entitled the "UN Second Amendment Protection Act of 2005," the bill does still not have a number, as Sen. Vitter is trying to get original cosponsors to join him.

Gun owners across America are increasingly victorious in legislative and elective battles at the local, state and national levels. Nevertheless, anti-gun internationalists, long burrowed in the UN headquarters, are planning, with some success, massive international gun control measures.

This entire week, the UN is holding the second biennial meeting of States to consider the implementation of the Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects.

Though couched in the flowery rhetoric of protecting victims of violence, the goal of the conference is nothing short of global gun control. The rabid gun banners to our north would seem to agree. "From Canada's perspective.... serious attention should be given to the regulation of civilian possession of small arms," said Tim Martin, head of Canada's delegation to the conference.

Sen. Vitter has meticulously documented and highlighted for his senate colleagues some of the most egregious proposals, including:

* A comprehensive program for worldwide gun control and a total ban on certain types of firearms; * The establishment of an international tracking certificate which would be used to ensure UN monitoring control over the export, import, transit, stocking, and storage of legal small arms and light weapons; * Worldwide record keeping for an indefinite amount of time on the manufacture, holding and transfer of small arms and light weapons; * National registries and tracking lists of all legal firearms. "The U.N. has no business interfering with our Second Amendment rights guaranteed by our Founding Fathers," Sen. Vitter said.

Much of the UN's agenda was conceived in a 1995 proposal, and then adopted as a Program of Action in 2001. At that time, then-Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security John Bolton led the U.S. opposition to the Program. The United States has neither signed nor ratified the Program.

Sen. Vitter's bill will prohibit any U.S. funding to the UN unless the President certifies that the world body "has not taken action to restrict, attempt to restrict or otherwise adversely infringe upon the rights of individuals in the United States to possess a firearm or ammunition."

ACTION: Please contact your two senators and urge them to cosponsor the Vitter bill. You can visit the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send your Senators a pre-written e-mail message.

----- Pre-written message ----- Dear Senator:

I urge you to contact Senator Vitter's office to cosponsor his draft legislation entitled, the "UN Second Amendment Protection Act of 2005."

Anti-gun internationalists, long burrowed in the UN headquarters, are planning, with some success, massive international gun control measures.

But Sen. Vitter's bill will prohibit any U.S. funding to the UN unless the President certifies that the world body "has not taken action to restrict, attempt to restrict or otherwise adversely infringe upon the rights of individuals in the United States to possess a firearm or ammunition."

Again, I strongly encourage you to cosponsor this bill. Gun Owners of America will keep me up-to-date with the cosponsorship status of this legislation. Thank you.

Sincerely,

I will not be registering anything with any international authority under any circumstances.

To be really honest, it's stupid crap like this that makes me upset about registration laws because they encourage this kind of tomfoolery.

People tell me all the time cars are registered and that's no big deal. I then inform them to specify to me how the registration and licensing programs we have for motor vehicles are anything but relatively convenient.

I also mention that vehicle registration doesn't lead to laws which state what color of truck we can drive, or that we can't own vehicles with parts that fold, or that we can't have 15 gallon gas tanks.

We also don't have to get the permission of some random foreigners to purchase or own a motor vehicle.

Any congressman that abides by a UN "mandate" is quilty of treason against the United States.

THe UN only has only the "authority " that OUR congress gives it.

Think its bad now ? Wait till Clinton takes control of it...

My only hope is that I can enter into a triple digit body count before they can kill me when they come to get my stuff. :starwars:

There is an Article called "Freedom from War" that came out in the early 60's that outlines the goals of the United Nations. This "article" was signed by President John. F. Kennedy as a goal that he "accepted" as that of the United States.

It basically outlaws ALL firearms by private citizen allowing them only for military troops. It goes even further though...it eventually outlaws any national military with the United Nations Forces being the only viable army in the world other than small token forces for "peackeeping purposes" in various countries for the sole purpose of squashing any "rebellion" that may take place.

None of this stuff is new. Its been the original goal of the UN since it was founded. If you look at other countries in the last 15 years that had free ownership of firearms that it now severly restricted such as Canada,Australia,New Zealand and Britian, one can surmise that none of this has happened by accident. The only thing that is slowing this trend in the US are our various presidents and lobbying groups such as the NRA. Unfortunatley, some of our Presidents cede more of their authority to the UN and in each case it serves the purposes of the UN, the US Constitution be damned. Bill Clinton was an expert at this, and anyone that dosent think Hilliary wouldnt do it is a fool.

As freedom loving Americans,we owe it to ourselves to become aware of the ultimate goals of the UN and to educate everyone that we can about them. We must watch and be aware as many of our elected politicians get on board with these goals, some knowingly and others out of ignorance.Republicans and Democrats alike are participating in the undermining of our Constitution by giving up more and more of their authority to the UN and we must not forget that itis most anti United States organization on the planet, proved time and time again by thier action...which speaks louder than any words.

All we can do is be vigilant...and keep your powder dry. Its not a matter of "if" it happens but a matter of "when".

I can only hope that when it does occur, I'll still be able enough to actively "participate" in the festivities and make a maximum contribution to the efforts to remain free.

Thx HG (I think).

Sheesh - weep???

I think I will go to bed soon and lapse into total depression. That any sane person could write that drivel - thinking it will ''solve all problems'' sorta stuff.

Well - I guess it is what happens, even that long ago - when folks get their heads stuck into very dark, moist, warm and stinky places. Idealism run amok.

Im with ya P95...

I first read it many years ago and was in shock and disbelief. What saddened me even more was finding out that a suprisingly large amount of our senators and congresscritters actually bought into that stuff.

One one reads and understands the motivations in the article, it becomes very apparent that we are inching ever closer to the goals. Its no accident that we are one of the few countries left where citizens can own guns freely. Looking at our various states, its amazing that even our predomintaley anti-gun states are pretty much getting in line. Look at NY,Mass,Ill or NJ...where guns are registered and you must own a FOID card just to be able to own what pretty much the rest of the states can get all day long without jumping through hoops and asking permission.

I dont know about you, but I have no reason to believe that history wil not repeat itself when the general populace is disarmed. Just in the last decade we have genocide in Rwanda,Iraq, Bosnia, Sudan just to name a few. Any body that beleives that giving up their tools for self defense is for the 'greater good" must have flunked History.

History teaches many lessons HG - and we would be foolish to disregard those. However, with the seemingly incessant ''chip-chip-chip we see going on - I fear things are always heading down the crapper.

We have to do everything possible peacefully but it is an uphill task - and the future does not look too bright. On a lighter note - just consider the sheer volume of legally (and illegally if you like) weapons in the nation - nothing will go to completion easily or quietly - no way Jose!!

There is no ''clean sweep'' gonna work - F the UN and the lame horse it ever rode in on!

The only answer, in my mind, is to "outbreed" them. Every chance you get, teach a young person about firearms and liberty. If we can educate enough young people(and antis/fencesitters), we can take back our country through sheer voting strength. If we have time. I have 2 liberal types I've been talking to about freedomlately. I started in with the angle that lesbians need to protect themselves from attackers. It's moved on to an awareness of things our government is up to. They've been asking for weeks when I'm taking them to learn how to shoot. The time hasn't been there, but I think we'll make it this week.
A woman on another board I frequent is organizing a national "kid's and family" day, for shooting.
We must educate and convert, if we are to survive, folks. Freedom is calling for help. It isn't hard to get involved.

Good post Fjolnirrson...

One thing that we do have in our favor is the ever increasing amount of CCW holders that have gone from "white" to "yellow" status as a result or getting their permit and realizing the responsibilites that come with. it. It also amounts to a sizeable voting block. If those folks wouuld teach their children and the children grew up around responsible weapons ownership, then no amount of lies and misinformation could persuade what they know as the truth. Truth is a very powerful weapon against those that would control and enslave.

Hopefully, even those in the rabid antigun states will see that the "blood running in the streets" predicted by the antis when CCW laws were enacted just hasnt happenend. I suspect that its one of the principal reasons that the State of Missouri just enacted a "shall issue" law a year ago even though some of thier big city mayors and their bought judges squalled like mashed cats and did everything they could to deny the people the right of self protection. Eventually, the voice of the people made a difference as the evidence of concealed carry law in various states was overwhelming and simply couldnt be ignored or dismissed.

The more people that can "carry "the better off we'll be and the harder it will be for the socialist/communist scum in the UN to try to deprive us of our rights. We must let our UN loving politicians (and there are many) know that any vote for the UN will result in them getting voted out of a job next time around, because that is the only thing the most of them care about.

I acually have a copy of that Document: Freedom From War. When I was a energized member of the John Birch Society, I got a LOT of research done on the coming (soon!) NWO. You're 100% correct, the steady decline of nations with their roots in FREEDOM (that is private ownership of firearms) is in a steep decline and it is part of a grand scheme that has been in motion for far longer than the UN has been in operation. Goes all the way back to the early 1900's and Woodrow Wilson along with the formation of the Council on Foreign Relations. Bill Clinton is CFR so was Bush #41 (a director, I think) and WHO coined the term New World Order? Bush #41 of course. WHO seems to have become father figure and mentor to Bill Clinton? Bush #41. There is a comfort zone present in that relationship that COULD NOT have been present in public while Clinton was President. What truly frightens me is the old saying that the "leaf doesn't fall far from the tree" and what is it about Bush #43 that we don't yet know? Like this whole thing about unsealed national borders and illegal immigration unchecked.....Part of the overall plan?

Politics? In all of HUMAN HISTORY....nothing is an accident. Layer upon layer of interconnected events. No such thing as accidental history.

Read this book (available from amazon) by G. Edward Griffin called The Creature From Jekyll Island and you will be utterly amazed. It is a huge book and the primary focus is the federal reserve and international banking, but it reads like a novel and the chapters are ALL summarized at the end of each one. AWESOME. I sometimes TEACH using this book as a reference.

From my cold, dead hands...

Now that the UK wants to ban kitchen knives after gun confiscation failed, I guess staplers are next. Rule Britannia!
