Anyone else afraid to contact Progressive Government Reps ?

I'm not one bit afraid to contact them and let them know where I stand. Of course, I'm one of those dreaded progressives, so maybe they'll let me ride along in the black helicopters!:danceban:

In all seriousness, there are millions of pro gun liberals like me in the US. There's a lot of tinfoil-hat nonsense on both sides of the aisle, and I really wish it would stop. The gun control thing reminds me a bit of the situation in the Colonies before the revolution. The founders reckoned that the population was divided roughly into thirds: 1/3 wanted revolution, 1/3 were loyal to the Crown and the other 1/3 just wanted to live their lives, taking a "wait and see" attitude towards the troubles. Likewise there are a few "true believers" like DiFi but there are a lot more that, while not gun friendly, are just watching to see which way the wind blows.

That's where the letters and calls come in. The true believers are often in extremely safe gerrymandered districts without much chance of losing their seat. This applies to both parties. The guys and gals that carry water for the cause often don't care what the people think because they don't have to. But most of them care more about getting re-elected than in doing what's right. Again, this applies to both parties. Just like a cop's main job is to get home at the end of the day, a career politician wants to ride the gravy train as long as they can.

Be courteous, be respectful, even when you disagree. But be persistent. Let them know you will vote on the issue and then follow through.

I have never been afraid to contact any of my "Representatives" however, the Liberal, gun-hating, jumpin-on-the-big-O-bandwagon-for-the-children ones simply ignore my plea for sanity when it comes to firearms legislation and second ammendment rights.

They are convinced of their stance and no plea, or threat of getting voted out will sway them. It is an exercise in futility to challenge them or change their minds. Apparently it is a mental disorder that has no cure.

Out of four WV Legislators, I contacted two of them. Sen. Rockefeller (D-WV) is not seeking a re-election and he is usless anyhow, he will vote for gun restriction and that's that.

Sen. Manchin (D-WV) lied to the voters saying he would not follow any of the policies of our President, but he has made an about face. He is firmly entrenched in gun restriction and will not budge.

Representative Rahall (D-WV) is committed to vote against or stop any new legislation for gun control. He says looking into the mental health issue will be better than gun restriction. He told me so in a reply letter.

Rep. Shelly Capito (R-WV) has been and has publicly proclaimed she is against any and all gun control legislation. I did not have to contact her.

At least two out of four is good.

Well, a couple hundred million people vehemently and assertively expressing their opinions in every way, shape and form, cannot be ignored. The only way it can be ignored is to do exactly that: have no voice of opposition. We, as a People, have tried that the past ~40yrs or so on firearms, and it hasn't gotten us anywhere. We've largely become passive workers in a worker-bee facility called the U.S.A., but we've forgotten our roots, failed to get (and remain) heavily involved in our own governance, failed to do much else in our communities (with respect to governance, admin, laws) other than to become apathetic in the extreme.

IMO, by far the best thing every person can do is to get specifically, invasively, heavily involved to the degree we each can do so. Starting with contacting our elected folk in our own towns, counties, states and DC. Becoming involved with a few issues we hold dear (ie, saving the library, or creating alternatives for kids after school, or getting involved in tutoring/mentoring, or helping in our local governments. YES, our voices get heard. But only if we make them heard. 300M people refusing to go quietly into the night cannot be ignored.

That said, yes I believe many I've hired to assist in our own governance are anti-American traitors guilty of treason every day, and I believe they've gamed the system to cover their tracks, support their nefarious and spiteful activities, and we're allowing our courts to do nothing about it. Yes, I believe many who get hired into such roles actively seek to harm the people who've hired them, for their own gains in terms of power, control. Tough toenails. We're a long, long way from being a bottom-of-the-heap, third-world autocracy without any voice, in which we're disappeared at the drop of a hat. And so long as we're far from that, we've got every chance of rooting out the liberty-haters and traitors, and exposing them for who they are and what they're doing.

My wife is a History and Civics teacher. She's been teaching for 35 years.

Every year, her classes write various letters to out elected Representatives and even the Governor. The students get a kick out of it as they feel that they are really participating.


Here's the thing that stands out though...


When a class gets anwers to the questions, they are always typed up and the look very official,complete with state emblems, "Honorable" so and so in the titles, and the whole bit. The kids love it.

One might notice though...that the responses are pretty much the same generic answer. What is glaringly obvious, is that the signatures are all different...even though they are "signed" by the same person.



They dont even care enough to train their pages to at least attempt to make a forged signature look even close. We gathered some of the letters up and noticed at least a dozen clearly different signatures for the same person.



Still think you have a voice in government? Continue on in your little myth if you beleive so. If you've ever wondered why it seems like no matter how loud you scream or yell and your elected officials ignore you...there is one answer.

Have no fear! Your letter is just so much compost anyway...

You might as well type No more gun control. And sign it... Or rather...

Dear Honorable Moneygrubber:
(and the minion who reads this, and tallies the numbers)

I am a constituent in your district, as you can see by my return address.
Put me down as against any further gun control, please, and send me the appropriate form letter.

If you WANT the drones over head.... You needn't be threatening... Just send a hand written note, with lots of exclamation points!!!! And write heavily on the paper! Then sign it with cut out letters from magazines and newspapers. Make certain your return address is very neat and legible.

DO NOT put any talcum powder or starch into the envelope.... Just don't do that...
