Thinking of making my own belt. I am having trouble finding how to on making this type of belt. A few ? I have are what weight leather, what thickness of Kydex, and what to use for a backing for example?
Go to Oldfaithfulholsters.com and order yourself their gun belt kit. They come with real thick leather that you build and finish yourself . If you want it stiffer they have kydex inserts for them as an option, but I think they are stiff enough without it. The kit is $40 and a belt they finish is $70. add $10 for kydex Old Faithful Holsters Store Supplies The Most Comfortable Concealed Gun Holsters
I took some of my Kydex to my supplyer and had him shear it for my buddy at Rocky Hill Leathers Gun Belts. He found that the Kydex was not needed, and caused the belt to want to spring away from your side some. That was with I believe .080. If you use any Kydex look at .060, it may work better.
I have been using a single ply gun belt for years, and it works fine.
