Anyone paint the front sight post of their AR sights?

You see a lot of very visible pistol sights, but the iron sights on my AR are just black. I was thinking of buying sight paint that is supposed to have a glow and applying it to my front sight post. Why aren't their options for more visible iron sights for the AR? Can anybody think of any reason I shouldn't do this?

I can tell you that glow in the dark paint Junk. I never had any that work for more then 15mins
Does it allow you to pick up your front sight during conditions that you would otherwise be able to see your front sight?
Thus far, only against the little black circle in the middle of the target... ;) I was painting other front beads, so I had the paint out already. I got a little carried away and did a few more than originally planned...
Your AR has sights?

There are a number of higher visibility AR front sights on the market, including some with tritium inserts. Google, "AR tritium sight", or something similar, and you will find plenty of options.

We used to use "sight black" on our rifles for qualification day, so we did paint our sights, but that probably isn't the product you are looking for.

Brownell's. Super nice but not cheap. Tritium Stripe on White with a black surround.

Nice. Thanks QK.
I put a bit of liquid paper on top 1/3 of front sight. Gives pretty good contrast, allows a bit more speed in matches, and seems to hep my eyes center post in aperture.

Low cost & easy.

for me liquid paper is a tool worth keeping next to the duct tape and zip ties. I always have some handy! I've used it to revive the front sights on my old Sigs several times. Just use a paper clip to dab a dot on the old dot. Don't care if it doesn't last too long...one bottle is a lifetime of sight renewals.

There are cheaper ones out there that are not tritium with just paint. Look on Amazon.
