Are AOW's basically items that do not otherwise have an ''official'' category?

And what things come into DD's? I guess grenades, RPG's and stuff yeah - what else?

AOW.........considered to be a short barreled shotgun, sawed off shotgun ( Ithaca stakeout, Rem 48/1100/870 with BBl les than 18 inches or OA lenth less than 32 inches.
Pengun types, along with grenades, pipe bombs (yes they're collectible) wrapped dynamite sticks, and similar (the above require a form 3 or 4, along with print cards, photos, and 5.00 (YES a 5 buck transfer fee)

Distructive devices are
M203 40MM grenade launchers, Streetsweepers (12 ga YES they're a DD now) M79s 40mm grenade launchers. RPGs, and similar..Full auto shotguns are NFA weapons 200.00 buck fee....ALL require a 200.00 transfer fee and either Form 3 or 4 along with the paperwork and print cards etc.
Sounds like a lot, and yes it is for the first transfer, but it's not overwhelming..

Also, AOW can never have had a stock installed.

A traditional 'sawed off' shotgun with a stock is a SBS (Short-barreled shotgun).

The main difference being a 200 $ tax on the "sawed off" and a 5$ tax for the AOW.

The price difference applies for the transfer, not the making - if you form 1 an item yourself, AOW or SBR/SBS/DD, it's $200. The next person saves on the AOW but the limits are no stock, ever.
