I just recently responded to a post by a new member in regards to if he could defend his home if he is home invaded. This really sparked a fire in me because the only response he got was to check his local laws. This is very disturbing because we live in a society that continues to spiral down the tubes. Specifically, look at the post where teens are literally beating down cars and trucks that dare come into their neighborhood, and no police show up at all.

The recent move to ban legal gun ownership and limit the ability of the good American citizens to protect themselves is no doubt a poison being administered those that feel that America and the world is still a safe place to leave your windows up at night with a fresh apple pie cooling on the window sill. Well, this just in, it is not. Yes, we live in the greatest, most freedom filled country in the world, and as a veteran of military service I will defend it. However, political correctness, and political labels have caused us to be blind to what really matters, and that is doing what it takes to ensure that this country and its citizens continue to enjoy our freedom.

What we have here friends is somebody adding water to stretch the ketchup. Being that I work in the school system, I can tell you that the system is screwed up. We as parents and teachers need to once again take pride in ensuring that your child gets the education necessary to allow them to be productive citizens, so they won't get shot while car jacking, breaking and entering or attempting to rape those of us who have fought to keep this country strong. However, this is not the case what we have is parents that don't care for the most part. When we as teachers and counselors try to encourage and warn parents of how important it is for them to work with little johnny or susie at home, and key in on bad behavior we are cursed and told not to tell them how to raise there children.

Now this is just crazy because it will be that same parent that will be on the news stating how their pride and joy would never brutally beat their 1st period teacher. Wake up America lets invest in education again like you did in the 70's and 80's because as it stands we are producing more play station champions, and bad guys than good guys. Parents vote, and take part in school rallies and let the government know that you care about educating and protecting your children and home.

Are we scared, are we scared to vote, and let our voice be heard. Are we scared to pickett high gas prices, are we scared to attend PTO and PTA meetings and take an active role in our kids future. Are we scared to protect our families by voting for and supporting organizations that lobby for the right to bear arms and keep America America. Are we scared to let the past go and stop engaging in racism and hate among our fellow man. Good guys and gals are we scared to be American.

Personally, I dont think being "scared" is the only problem.

I think that most people just dont give a rats azz.

Its not only about being scared, its also about APATHY.
Its about RESPECT, or nowadays. lack of it.
Its about LOVE. You claim to love your neighbors, yet you are too lazy to help your 80 year old neighbors paint ther house, keep their yard up, or even something as simple as check on them once in a while too make sure everything is OK.
Its about treating others as you would like to be treated.

Scared ? Too scared to intervene when someone you know or dont know is being assaulted, because of what the laywers might to do or the "law" might say.

Scared ? To scared to call what is right,"right" and what is wrong"wrong" because of what somewhat else might think.

We are breeding a generation of wussies and its become more and more ovbious everyday.

Welcome to the future...where the average citizen is to "scared" to look someone in the eye and where they dont care enough to ever try to change it...

That is why My kid goes to a private school. The parents of kids in public school are too worried about maiking the all mighty dollar to worry about investing in their kids. They would rather invest in their new Hummer. Therefore the kids are left to raise themselves and where do they learn their stuff? From the streets. That is our future and nobody is to blame except the parents. They are either not around or they want to be their friends and not their teacher. Parents are more responsible for teaching than the schools are. Fact. Sorry I know this is way off topic for this board and thought about not posting but this is one that makes my blood boil.

Scared of being sued for defending myself? Yes, but its bettre than being 6 ft. under. Luckily some of the laws are turning around all over the U.S.
We now have the power to CC, and with the Castle doctrine being enacted in many states, atleast we are headed in the right direction.
Hopefully, folks will get a bit more pride in their country and try to bring up their kids right. I am trying my best to teach my kids, thru example. Don't write off this country yet, and it could be a lot worse than we have it . (look at california)

Good post, BlueLion. If we don't begin acting NOW, its going to go further downhill, and faster.

Bad and apathetic parenting has gone a long way to get us to where we are. I do see some good in the new school grad's but also a huge number - majority even - leave me wondering whether they will with maturity, if found - actually come to see what is actually real and not imagined.

So much disinformation - misinformation, brain-washing, and inculcating kids with crazy PC crap - well divorced from real world stuff.

HG mentioned - Respect, and yes love too. I would add also - honor, and integrity - more traits sorely lacking these days. ''Easy come-easy go'' and ''the world will provide'' have become way too popular a mantra of some younger folks.

Blue - I hear ya - as do most of us !!

You hit the nail on the head. People won't speak out because they are scared someone will disagree with them. People don't help out because they are lazy. People don't respect because they don't have to. And people don't care because they are just too caught up in their own lives and are apathetic towards everything else. IT's a sad, sad thing.

This is one of the truest threads I've read in a while. The country is going to crap and its mostly from the lazyness and lack of interest of my generation(Im only 23 - the general population on here seems a bit older than me). Other than myself and two of my friends I dont know of anyone my age in the area that gives a crap about their rights and freedoms and what is going on in the country in general. The majority cares only of what is going to directly benefit them for a gain of some sort, or going to the bar to get screwed up. Now dont get me wrong Im not against kickin back a few cold ones now and then but the bar crowd in my area is HUGE and its the same bums there every night. All I can think is my generation better get their s**t together and start making the community a productive place to live, otherwise its going to continue to spiral downward as it has been.

The "what's in it for me" syndrom.

Seen it really explode in the last 10 years, and it's getting worse and worse.

As for being afraid to "speak up", yes, I think that most are. They are afraid of what will be thought of them or what will be said of them if they don't toe the PC line.

As a matter of fact I've seen it first hand. I've been shunned, excommunicated (no, I'm not Catholic, just using their word), and even had a person that you wouldn't think it become overly hostile against me due to some of the beliefs that I hold and openly talk about (I think the subject was abortion with this person, I am against, he was pro).

I've met people that really liked me, enjoyed my company, and then suddenly "hate" my guts when they found out that I own and collect guns.

And the sad thing is that the "now" generation is starting to infect the older generations who should know better.

Great thread and oh so true. It reminds me of my 7th grade Social Studies class. Throughout the entire school year a slogan hung from the ceiling right above the teacher's desk. That slogan was the basis for and unrelenting theme for the entire class.

"Bystander Beware"

DON'T be a bystander! Everything we did that year in class was in one way or another related to that slogan. We were shown what it meant to put ourselves behind something and to help out when people needed it. Don't sit back and hope things would work themselves out. Stand up and make it happen.

And at the back of the room, again hanging from the ceiling, was another saying...

"If you can't do it for someone else, don't expect someone else to do it for you".

That class is one of the reasons I am who I am today. It was a realization even at that young an age that oftentimes, the greatest gift you can give to someone is yourself.

I.M.H.O. Our society wants us to be compliant, complacent :sheep:. Things like "Political Correctness" mean to me.

Be afraid to voice your opinion. Cause you might offend someone. Some people need to be offended. My dad once said, "Some people need to be told that they are acting dumb. Cause they might not realize how they are acting... Your really doing them a favor."

"Follow the heard" cause you use independent thought, you are suspect of being immoral. Allot of these people who dictate how our society should live, I find immoral. To clarify my statement, I’m talking about the media and Hollywood, not most law makers(I do find some laws silly, but I still follow them).

I boycott "Political Correctness"! God gave me a good brain that works well, when I use it. I follow the laws, and try to respect thoughts I come across (unless they attack me). I don’t need Liberals, socialist, the media, or any other "red dipper, doper babies" dictating my life.

Good post. It proves that most people are caught up in there own little world to see whats happening around them. Or worry about it. One more thing that this country is on its way down the ol proverbial pooper. truly a good read Blue Lion thanks or sharing.
