I am not one to go fly off the handle. I listen, then I speak my peace.
I am of the age where I just do not care what other folks think of me anymore.
I will not be intimidated into keeping my opinions on things I feel passionate about.
Unfortunately yes, I would love to be able to speak freely, but between trying to keep employment and my kids from suffering potential consequences from their "crazy father" I try not to rock the boat too much, though I always fear that by the time it doesn't matter, it'll be too late anyways.
My passion is a strength, my impulsiveness, though measured, is not. I've never been good about biting my tongue. When I was a partner, my reluctance to avoid speaking out was sorely tested, and my career path was undoubtedly effected.
I would not live any other way.
As I have aged, my opinions and passioned have hardened.
I'm in a fortunate position that I'm pretty much not dependent on anyone to meet my financial needs. In that regard, I usually say what I think, although I don't waste time trying to change someone's mind when I know they're not susceptible to change. I would not join a club (like a gym) the announced purposes of which were contrary to my own beliefs, but I do tend to keep my opinions to myself when I'm there unless I'm speaking to someone whom I know shares my opinions.
On the other hand, I think being an employer or employee in this upside down environment would be utterly miserable. I'd probably keep my mouth shut although I'd hate doing it.

Contrary to what many believe the world is black and white, right or wrong. I speak my mind when it matters. Have paid a high price for it at times. No job is worth sacrificing your values or character for.
There's no "GRAY" in my vocabulary. I'll call it like I see it, like it or don't.
Sometimes, I'll avoid a verbal confrontation. Like a wiser man said, "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience"
I try to respect the right for everyone to have whatever opinion they wish. For that reason I generally keep my opinions to myself unless asked. My problem is that I despise big mouth bullies that inflict their views on everyone in sight. I always respond to them and it does bring on trouble occasionally. That is just an acceptable cost for standing up when you should IMO.
Your house sounds a lot like my house. The Mrs. and I always speak our mind. Wonder how we have been together for 30 years.
Our friends say it was a marriage made in heaven, as no one else would put up with our crap.
Told my son on the phone the other day that I was gaining a lot of weight and that I just want to eat all of the time now.
He told me to eat a can of green beans before I eat any snacks. Just open a can and eat them right from the can. Two thirds of a can worked for me and I had a third for when...
I posted a comment on a link with photos of statues that drew some comments that felt my statements were inappropriate or out of place. Maybe so, that said my families history dictates that I must have a voice. Someone commented that I dare not compare Nazis to the South during slavery, sorry...
This is part 3 of the word association thread.
The last words were: Obelisk and Washington Monument
I don't follow football but The Redskins are very popular around here. Dan Snyder has always said that he would never change the name of the team...well, until now.
Evidently tomorrow is the big reveal of the new name. Maybe they'll keep the logo and call themselves, "The Washington Warriors"...
Seeing some of the posts regarding the NON PC Joke Thread, it's clearly in demand and while I have no problem with gallows humor let's do our best to keep things within the forum rules.
