If anybody is interested CDNN is having a sale on AR15's and with the special you get 10 free 20 round Thermold mags. Bushmasters, Colt's, S&W, CMMG, Les Baer, LWRC just to namer a few brands that they have specific models on special. Those damn e mail flyers always get me hot for something it seams. I am real tempted.

I'm thinking about grabbing one myself also. Which setup looks the best for under $1K? This will be my first AR and haven't done much research on them.

If you've got a grand to spend on an AR, take a look at Bravo Company. They are consistently praised for high quality, reliability, and value.

Complete BCM lower=$350 plus shipping and FFL transfer
Complete BCM 16" mid length upper with BCG and charging handle = $570
Mid length handguards = $20

Grand total of $940 plus shipping and FFL fees. Add on a few PMAGs at $15 each and you've got a killer AR at an entry level price.

You are SO right. I get in more trouble because of them. I am a victim. It's not my fault... :tired:

Bravo company is a good outfit that I have done a good deal of business with but the CDNN AR sale beats anything they have now by a wide margin for a comparable rifle.

Some examples:

BUSHMASTER
Bushmaster M4A1 · 223 · 16" Carbine · 1-30rd Mag ·
Collapsible Stock · Bayo Lug · Fixed Carry Handle
#BUSBCWA1F16M4 $749.99

CMMG A3LE · .223 · 16" Heavy Barrel · Detachable Carry
Handle · Collapsible Stock · 1-30rd Mag · Mil-Spec Lower
Receiver · Bayo Lug · Flash Hider · New
#CMMG1 $789.99

CMMG M4 · .223 · A3 Mil-Spec Receiver · M4 16" Barrel · Detachable Carry Handle ·
Custom Grip w/Battery Compartment · Bayonet Lug · Dual Sling Attachment · New
#CMMM4S $769.99

Smith & Wesson M&P15 · .223 · 16" Barrel · Detachable Carry Handle
6-Position Collapsible Stock · 1-30rd Mag · New
#SMI811000 $999.99

Plus the 10 free mags!

Sorry to say that I don't consider a Bushmaster or CMMG a "comparable" rifle. The S&W seems ok, but you get a better gun at a better price from BCM. The only upside to the S&W is the free mags, but that's only a $100-$150 difference - not worth it IMHO.

See "the chart" for my reasoning.

Certainly lots of good info on the chart but for the average AR shooter on a budget any of the rifles from the larger AR builders will serve their purpose just fine. Maybe for the comp shooter who shoots 15,000 rounds a year some of the bells and whistles make a real difference but for the average Joe who wants an AR to target/range shoot or for HD any of these rifle makers/builders listed on the chart will serve you well. Bravo Company puts together a fine AR as do many other builders but if you factor in price the average AR shooter may want to look at other options. Just depends on the shooter and his needs.
