Belly Band Material?

Anyone know of sources for belly band material? I'm kind of the "do it yourself" type and would like to experiment with these. The medical banding seems like a good start, but I'm also thinking neoprene might be a good option or some combination of materials that address the current shortcomings of what's currently on the market.

i made a belly band and a leg band for car use.
wraps around thigh so gun is "right there" if i need it fast. no bending and trying to draw from holster whilst in vehicle.

i used ACE bandage material (what you are calling "medical banding" prolly). but not for the whole thing. i used it only for the holster area itself. i used a leg of an old pair of jeans for the majority of it and the bandage material for the holster plus a lil more for expansion/stretch.

i too am like you...try and do it myself if possible...and this is possible fer sure.
and it seems so easy to make ya hafta try!
good luck with it.
Neoprene??? heck - I sweat enough already LOL!

I too like to make up stuff and in fact wife is grade A seemstress so she would always run stuff up for me. Must say - if I could find the right stretch stuff in flesh tone - I'd get her to make another belly band style - for high wear.

Got me thinkin now!

I thought about doing this also cause I have one laying around, just never got around to doing it.
Wonder if the Do It Yourself Channel would be interested in this?

First of all, you do NOT want any material that will cause you to SWEAT ..... like neoprene. If I were doing it, I'd want something soft and breathable and somewhat stretchable. Also want some form of secure closure. Velcro is a good bet. Want it wide enough to spread the tension without cutting you in half. I'd want a generic holster so I could shove either a revolver or a Glock M27 and work well with either.

I just sold a Belly Band to a forum member here for chump change, basically postage because I hated it. It was stiff and scratchy (for me) and not very user friendly.
Could be an untapped market out there for a neoprene belly holster. "Lose the love handles and exercise your RKBA..."
Tx 95 , i dont mean to post wrong , just some forums are funny on linking to other forums , personaly i try not to partake of any " war " discussion , and if i do i shure nuff wont attribute another idiot on another forum as a source LOL anyway .. glad that one passed the " sniff " test and is acceptable , great team , great mods , and great forum imho

Just the issues I would like to address. It seems to me that the belly band is a great concept that has yet to be fully explored. We've all seen what's out there and none of it seems very imaginative.

What I am thinking is neoprene to back the gun, this would provide grip and padding where it's needed most, on cloth or flesh. Leather, smooth side out, on the outside of the gun. This should provide some retention, allow your clothes to move over the holster and help with printing. The band would be the stiffer medical banding with a cotton backing, or maybe more neoprene with a cotton backing to help with the sweat problem.

When I say neoprene BTW, I'm talking about the stuff used in wetsuits and medical braces.

Yeah, the wetsuits that allow one to SCUBA dive in very VERY cold water, right? I would think a belly band made of this stuff or incorporating any of it against the skin would make one and instant (forgive me) SWEATHOG! Welcome back Kotter!
Actually I think there are two types of neoprene, a closed cell and open cell which is breathable.
