Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I live in MA and I have a LTC.......

What is your advice for a initial CCW?

I have been seriously looking at the Sig 226 and 229 and Walther PPS.....

Any comments or advice?

Thanks.....

Welcome to the forum.

As to your carry weapon that becomes a matter of your state and your personal choice. My weapon of choice is the CZ75 P-06, but I don't believe it is on the MA list of authorized guns. The Sig's you mentioned are hard to beat. Basically it is going to come down to what your state will allow you to have, and what feels good and works for you. Good luck.

Hello fellow Taxa..err...Massachusetts dweller!

I quit enjoy my S&W M&P9c for EDC.
10+1 capacity, easily concealed, the closest thing to a G-26 without paying +$200 more because our AG is finnicky...

Former MA Dweller here

+1 on the M&P9C
& if you ever escape (I mean move) like I did
you can use larger Mags in it

Welcome aboard Patriot1! :bier:

I've found that a lot of folks tire of carrying a large handgun, it takes commitment and a very good holster!

I'd look for a medium sized weapon and if possible rent/borrow a few different ones to try. What feels good in a gun store might feel like crap when you shoot it. You'll get a ton of opinions here but the only one that matters is yours. When you find the right gun, carrying will not be a burden but a pleasure!

Good luck with your search!

Thumper advise is right on the money! As a former resident of MA, I can tell you that I ended up carrying a Smith and Wesson J frame almost exclusively. Mostly because I never felt like I wanted to leave it at home. Seriously consider the J frame!

Smaller Sig

It appears from your posting that Sigs are allowed in Massachusetts. I have the P226 and P229 that you mentioned, but find them both on the large size for easy concealed carry. My favorite Sig for this purpose is the single stack P239 in 9mm, which is much easier to conceal.

I often carry my 229 in a CrossBreed IWB holster with no problems. It's hard to beat a Sig, but it boils down to whatever your personnel choice is. You just have to try different guns with different carry methods until you find what is comfortable and works well for you.
