The Colt .45 Auto Pistol. No author listed. Desert Publications. 1978. 98 pages. $11.95. Order #C-162 from www.deltapress.com.

This is a reprint of portions of Army Field Manual 23-35 with additional reprinted material from various Army Technical Manuals on the M1911/1911A1 pistols.

Topics covered include mechanical and marksmanship training, manual of arms, functioning, disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, accidents, malfunctions and stoppages, safety tests, and tools, guages and fixtures, all very well illustrated with b/w photographs.

This book is useful to the M1911 pistol owner because it combines material from several sources into a single handy 5 by 8 inch volume. It would be especially valuable to take along when inspecting and safety testing a used pistol (or a new one, for that matter) prior to purchasing.

Highly recommended.
