This book forced me to do something I haven't done since I was 14 and was forced to read The Great Gatsby: I could not finish it.

I know that in the lore of the fighter jock community they like to say that "If you aint a fighter pilot, you ain't s***" but to basically tell the reader from the get go that you ain't it and dumber too goes a bit too much, specially when the rest of the book (as far as I had the patience to read) is nothing but a long litany of whinning and complaining interrupted by unbearable boring descriptions of missions over North Vietnam. I was halfway through the book and I didn't feel I was learning a damn thing.

I talked to these guys going in and coming out, sometimes more than once on a mission, when a flight or flight member tanked up to try to cover a buddy who did take the SAM.

My crew went into harms way to pull one Thud out, literally, when his fuel situation was critical and plumbing problem (holes made by NVA guns) made keeping fuel on board a problem.
