At 10,000 rounds they'll likely both be doing great but truthfully that'll take a LONG time.
you may want to consider buying 1000 wadcutters or "semi" wadcutters from Georgia Arms. It's about the best price you can get and the wadcutters would be ideal for extended practice from a snubbie. they're mild on the recoil. Also some folks used to use 158 grain wadcutters as a self defense load. I believe there are better JHP rounds available today, however, if you had to use your practice ammo for SD I believe a wadcutter would be a lot better than your typical full metal jacket.
Very nice guns and we all have a challenge shooting snubbies well. I have a 642 and it took me years to get good with it. I ended up also getting a S&W 640-1. It's all stainless with a full 2" barrel and full underlug. It's a pure dream to shoot but it's heavy for pocket carry so the 642 is dedicated pocket carry and the 640 rides IWB.
Enjoy your new guns!!
