Actualy when I bought it, it had a burr right there and I hit it with a file. That is what the shinny spot you see is.

Doesn't make any sense at all to me, why Colt's using two methods.

I thought colt went to all etched serials instead of roll mark serial

I thought they had too, and then went back to roll-marking. Maybe it's just on the Enhanced models they use etching. My 2000, 2002 and 2005, all are roll-marked (and of course the earlier examples).
