Had a nice 3X3 buck and a doe trot through our yard this morning at 1000.

Went out to look for elk, or you could say I took my bow for a walk, one last day in a different sector where I could take a bull, yesterday. Very little sign, no sightings and did not hear any. The area I went into obviously suffered a heavy debris flow this spring with a huge number of deadfalls as well as many new boulders. Difficult hiking.

Gearing up for rifle spike elk in 3 weeks. Prepping gear, and planning to hit the range at least a few more times between now and the hunt.

In my neighborhood, they've stripped my pear tree and nibbled our hostas down to the dirt. They're now bold enough to just watch my leashed Australian Shepherds go nuts barking with a dismissive flip of a white tail. Nuisance deer are a thing. If it weren't for chronic wasting disease, I'd just grab a ball bat and get dinner....neighbors too close for shooting.
