Bug out bag

Not sure why I haven't built a bug out bag, but it's time.

I travel a lot for work. I drive about 1000 miles in a weekend. I really need something in the car for something as simple as my car breaking down or a bad Montana storm. Let alone the zombies.

What's everyone packing in their bags?

...I ain't leavin'...THEY are...when I travel out of town, I take a long gun and double the mags...sometimes a third handgun/mags...and clean skivvies...but I ain't buggin' out...I'm too old to run...

My bob is very different than most others. I use a small carry on size bag that converts to a backpack. No wheels on the bag.

Contents of the bag include 2 complete changes of clothes, $500 cash, passport, and a few other items. The only survival type items are a Swiss army style knife, a lighter, flint stricker, disposable poncho, and a heat sheet bivy bag. The bag is geared for evacuation plain and simple.

With only 5 minutes notice I can be gone, travel to most regions in the world, and stay there indefinitely. The same setup is what I carry when traveling.

The vehicle has a small shoulder bag with cash, water bottle, poncho, bevy, means of making fire, and warm clothes.

My philosophy is based on historical events that have happened in the world over time. Who survived, who didn't, and why.

I just take my Rambo knife with hollow handle filled with survival supplies. This will get me by until I get my hands on an M60, while securing other supply's from the local town.

I am retired so not going to bug out just be support for kids an grandkids, I would do what ever they feel is right except I will be armed. Did find neat backpack the other day has a solar panel on back an plugs inside for iphone ipad kind of neat. Its hard for sons to bug out with big familys, we talk about it but they are so involved with work, church, kids that they don't really concern themselves with it. Ive given it a little thought an think since we live in s fl it would be hard to go north with everyone. Think I would procure us a boat an go to barrier island an try to ride it out lots of uninhabited islands out there.

Mine is more geared for natural disasters. I am sure I am not listing everything, but here is some stuff.

1. Clothes, for different weather ( I prefer to keep all kinds in, but it can be rotated to save space, cold stuff in winter, shorts in summer etc)
2. First aid kit,
3. Toilet paper
4. Paper and Markers
5. BLanket (wool and space blanket)
6. Towel/minimal toiletires (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap bar)

One thing I do not put in it is ammo. I have ammo cans for that and feel that if I was taking them I would want them in their own carrying case as the BOB is able to be worn as a backpack.

Don't forget water purification and some MRE's.

I made a b.o.b. for all of my family members. If we get separated, each person should be able to survive.

All bags also include a light-weight compressed sleeping bag, knives, flint lighters, sterno, and more.

It's amazing what you can fit into a b.o.b.

I highly encourage everybody to put one together for each family member. This is the absolute minimum you should do.
