As long as you clean your bore with some regularity, you won't have a problem shooting lead. My shooting partner put probably close to 10K lead rounds through his G35 with just periodic bore maintenance before he swapped over to an aftermarket barrel.
However, if your level of gun maintenance falls into the "apathetic" class, then a barrel with conventional rifling is probably a better choice for you.
