Looks like part of the rest of the English-speaking world may be starting to come to their senses. Hopefully the Brits and Aussies see the light.

I suspect hell will freeze over first!

It does seem the registration scheme was a flop and a joke, in particular regarding the monstrous sums of money it all cost - many times over the planned budget I believe. Those funds could have been put to so much better use.

I didn't see anything about ending the gun ban, just the registration. At least it's a step in the right direction. There's a long way to go, but you have to start somewhere.

The amnesty legislation will essentially gut the registy system, allowing people to purchase and possess freely again. Then they can work on applying that to the handgun side, then finally total elimination. This will also have the added benefit of letting the police actually dedicate time to pursuing and capturing actual criminals instead of harassing law-abiding gun owners.

If the Tories can get support from some BQ MPs, then they'll have a good shot at passing the legislation. There's a good possibility of that since they've been actively working with the BQ party as both sides agree on one thing: less federal power in Ottowa and more power to the provinces. Sounds like something we need to start working on down here in the States.

I wish our Canadian bros and sisters well , but merely getting rid of
Bad Laws will not save them in the long run.

We (the US ) are the only Nation on Earth that bases its govt. on
GOD GIVEN RIGHTS ; and we got the paper to prove it.

Pretty much bang on, this is the first step back down the path that the anti-gun crowd has led us. considering we were looking at a ban on handguns last December, this is a great step, but still a long ways to go.
