Howdy all - can anybody give me a straight up translation of what I can and cannot bring into Canada in the knife department? Going on Monday, need to figure out what's kosher, tried searching threads and google, but not finding any straight answers. Specifically, is a 3.9" Benchmade Ambush and/or a 2.9" Assisted-opening Kershaw Leek cool? Any assistance is appreciated, thanks everybody.

Thats a hard one, I would google Canadian custom knife makers, and give one a buzz and ask, they would definitely know. There are some awesome custom knife makers in Canada. Sorry best I could do.

My Wifes canadian and from my understanding if you try to defend yourself you will probably be charged with a crime, they think your defense is running away and calling cops

Hey everybody -
Back home from Canada, and had a great trip. Ended up going with option C and bringing my trusty old Buck 110, relatively innocent and outdoorsmanly looking. Ended up spending 2 whole minutes at customs in both directions, no searches or anything, and no, I had no weapons, only tools. :) Thanks for the advice everybody.

Crossed into Canada last Friday. I was asked if I had anything that might be used for self-defense (the agent specifically asked about mace and a knife). I mentioned I had a pocket knife. The border agent asked to see it. I handed it over, he opened and closed it once, handed it back and I was on my way.
