OK, here is my question. I looked up the firearms policy for my job (very large organization) and it basically said that Firearms and weapons are prohibited on all company property unless written permission is given by the head of security (whoever that is) and in accordance with the law. There are NO signs posted anyplace (a requirement in FL) that prohibit the carrying of firearms and I would be within the law since I have a permit. I briefly chatted with a coworker in another state once about it (he has a permit too and carries) and he said that it isn't breaking the law and the policy is unclear so it is nobody's business and keep quiet.

I have not yet bought one, but want to get an LCP and I could easily keep this in my pocket without anybody ever knowing it is there. I work for a very large corporation that is fairly unpopular in the press and public opinion and I can easily see some nutjob coming in and trying to shoot up the place and of everyplace that I go, this is the one I'd put at the top of the list for it to happen.

So, here is my question....in this situation, do you carry?

Since you are not in violation of state law the question comes down to, "Are you willing to risk your job?" Since corporate policy states no weapons without written approval, if your caught you will more than likely get fired. Weigh the risk, if you feel it is worth the risk carry.

I carry a Kel Tec P3AT and am very happy with it. I use a Uncle Mikes #2 pocket holster and I added 1/2inch filler to bottom of holster and it works very well. Same setup would work for LCP.

First of all, signs mean nothing in Florida. There is nothing illegal about CCW unless it's a prohibited place by FL law...
Places off-limits when carrying:
1. any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05
2. any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station
3. any detention facility, prison, or jail; any courthouse
4. any courtroom*
5. any polling place
6. any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district
7. any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof
8. any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms
9. any school administration building
10. any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption*
11. any elementary or secondary school facility
12. any area technical center
13. any college or university facility*
14. inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport*
15. any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law

Your only problem, if you don't work at one of the above places, is the possibility of instant termination if caught.

Only you can decide, I doubt anyone here would advise you one way or the other.:22a:

I would say -- go ahead and carry there are lots of people who need a job and will be more then happy to take yours when you get fired. Don't care what the law said-- the people (company) paying you is what counts. Remember if you fight it you "Will" lose.. Don't believe me try it..

Why not try to get written permission from the head of security? See how that works out. I'm not saying do are don't carry in the mean time. Just do some research and find out who the head of security is. Don't let anyone know that you are seeking approval. If you get approval don't let anyone know that either.

Same for me...It's not against the law, just against the policy...I like my job, so I leave mine locked-up in the car...
