I just linked over to an article on slate that says the DOJ under Sessions has changed the position on "carrying loaded firearms"on COE land. Apparently there are a couple of cases in GA and ID that this applies to. Does anyone have any info on these cases? Anyone seen the motions from the Sessions DOJ?

Thanks

(not going to provide a link because I don't want to give slate the traffic )

I would love to see CC on ACOE land. We go to state parks here in NC frequently. CC with a CHP is allowed in our state parks, with three exceptions. Those three parks are ACOE land that our state leases, so firearms are not allowed.

Of course, the one that we go to the most frequently is the one closest to us, and it is one of the three. So is the second closest one to us. We camp at these, and I like to be armed when we camp.

Nothing about Attorney General Sessions having anything to do with it in this article:

The 9th Circuit case was ready for oral argument on March 6. But on March 2, the Corps filed a request to remove the oral argument from the calendar and to put the case into mediation. The motion explained: “The Army Corps of Engineers is reconsidering the firearms policy challenged in this case, as well as plaintiffs’ requests for permission to carry firearms on Army Corps property. This reconsideration has the potential to fully resolve plaintiffs’ objections.”

Currently, there has been no change to the ACOE carry prohibition, but they are working on it.

The Idaho case is a Mountain State Legal Foundation case Nesbitt v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The GA case is GeorgiaCarry.Org et. al. v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Ban on guns on Army Corp of Engineers property

GCO's appeal in the 11th Circuit is scheduled for oral arguments April 19th. We are expecting the Govt to cancel our oral arguments too, just like the Idaho case.

ETA: The National Reciprocity Bill would remedy this problem along with a new bill just introduced in the US House.

Since the Army Corps of Engineers relinquished control of The Land Between the Lakes to the U.S. Forestry Service (IMHO, a terrible move) then I not longer have a (local) dog...in the fight.
