Come on Tom - what about some really hard questions!

Sheesh - this is a real poser of a situation. Much might depend on how fast folks dropped for cover and whether the bad guy stayed standing etc.

If he is right in the thick of a big standing crowd - you would have little choice right then but to observe - no chance to intervene. Hopefully someone would be on cell phone but that ain't gonna save the day.

Probably Tom - this can be classed as a ''nightmare'' scenario. Same could be said for a situation in a mall too in some ways. A ''Rule #4" impossibility.

In Virginia I'm disarmed in church due to the way they wrote the CHP law. So I guess I would have to draw my knife and bide my time for an opening.

If possible, I would shoot from kneeling, so that if I miss...I miss up.
Pray and shoot! Pray and shoot!

I love that verse.

If I had to shoot someone in a crowd, I like KC135's answer. Either that or circle around the BG as best as I can.

My daily prayer used to be and when I remember to pray is "Lord, please make me fast and accurate".

Let's see... With me I run the church audio equipment, so I'm in the Balcony I also have my M6X with me so it would just be put the dot on the BG, and shoot. I have been really expecting an attack on some religious holiday at some church, in some major city, (not where I live), but I have been running the tatical senaro through my head for quite some time now. 30 degrees down angle, tatical advantage of elevation, in isolated area with no way to sneak up on me, and the wife runs the video equipment in front of me and is carrying her .357 with laser grips as backup.

I hate to be a pessimist to this level, but if a shooter is dumping rounds into the crowd, my last worry is going to be over-penetration. Dropping him then and there prevents him from spraying more rounds. I hope nothing I fire goes into people I know, but failure to act means they're at continuing risk as well.

I'd rather act than not.

OK, so how would you deal with a shooter in the congregation, and innocents all around?
Not belonging to a "mainstream" religion has it's benefits. Our services tend to be rather private affairs, and given the temperment(sp?) of most Asatruars I know, anyone bent on mischief would have a hard row to hoe. Chances are good that the body would be identifiable only by dental records.
As far as tactics go, chances are there'll be an axe within reach. Good for close quarters work.
