It definitely looks like it has a tactical application, at least where overpenetration is a major concern. The Temporary Stretch Cavity is good, and penetration is what I would expect from this type of specialty round. This round reminds me a whole lot of the old Quick Shok in terms of performance, with some differences. Based just upon what I see it would probably function well in an apartment setting or some environment where a pass-threw shot is not acceptable (something like a dense urban environment). The issues I see are in terms of bone strikes, shots from the side (bladed body position), and of course barriers.

Liberty Fragmenting ammunition

Aguila made a similar round, but discontinued production due to cost. This was unfortunate. While it was still available, I tested their round for penetration on a hog's head, stomachs and ribs. I found it to be very satisfactory. I have also ordered Liberty's fragmenting round and expect similar results. Most people who evaluate such rounds appear to stop their investigation after after firing one round into ballistic gelatin, for example, and then become disappointed in the lack of penetration. What I believe they are missing is that follow-up shots would penetrate deeper and cause even more destruction.

Funny how the FN Five-seven is acceptable at 31gr/1700fps,
and so is the the 22TCM at 40gr/1900 ,
the .380 Winchester Silvertip JHP runs at a paltry 85gr/1000
but the Libery .45 @ 78gr/2000fps isn't .. Just sayin'

Let the flames begin. :gah:

5.7- specialty round. Perhaps has it's place in anti-body armor, but not a typical SC fight stopper
.22- not a fight stopper
.380- not a fight stopper
Liberty- I do not have enough info to make a decision, but at first impression, I'd rather have 230 gr. of .45

124 gr. .30 cal at 2,400fps is a fight stopper.

I have started using this round for carry in my Sig P938. I noticed someone earlier in this thread mentioned over penetration. There is no such thing and it amazes me the people that keep bringing it up. As I have said before, flying saucers, over penetration, and set back are all in the same class. Everybody talks about them but nobody has ever seen any. If you want to worry and talk about something real, how about a complete miss of your attacker for starters? Then you can worry about penetration on whatever your bullet hits.

I saw the title of Civil Defense and my brain harkened back to the days of dosimeters, TYPE 6 Crackers, Duck and Cover Drills and Fallout Radiation Meter Kits. I miss the old days of the Cold War when life was simpler.

I agree, I bought 3 boxes of the Civil Defense Ammo in 9mm & its collecting dust lol.
So tell me OP where does an old Cold War Vet find this Civil Defense ammo? BTW if you're interested I have 'Anti Dust Busting Technology' at my disposal so long as you don't want an Arm and a Leg for it.

Y'all have a fun filled Independence Day Celebration. My fun already started. Yesterday as a matter of fact. HUA
