Santa brought me amongst many things a brand new in the box CTL for my Combat Commander.....you know, the eyesight in the dark as we get on in years and all.

Well, was wondering what in your opinion would be the optimum distance for sighting in and reccomended sight picture at that distance...

Thanks for your assistance.......

Know the feeling on the eyesight going.....

My CT for my Colt Officers ACP stated in the instructions that it came factory sighted / adjusted for 50ft. And when I check the zero at the range it was pretty much dead on at 50ft.

So the best thing to do is go shoot the gun and see where it hits at 50ft...

I dont think you would want to go much further than that for a carry gun.

As mentioned, it is sighted in at 50 ft. from the factory.

I put a set on a Colt New Agent, and sighted them in at 30 feet. I figured if it was a self-defensive situation in the house, there are few engagement distances in my house greater than that.

If it was an outdoor situation, the bad guy was probably going to be much closer for my first few shots, and I probably wouldn't be firing once I got out to 30 feet. I would be ducking, moving, running for cover. I feel shooting beyond 30 feet in an outdoor situation may be looked upon by others as questionable.
