Do-it-yourself custom gun sights.

To improve standard white dots gun sights or plain iron sights.
Cost: Les that fifteen dollars.
there is enough paint in a small vial for about two dozen sights.

how often and for how long, do you have to shine a light on such paint to get it to glow and how long does it keep glowing after you do so?

1-One second under a tactical lamp will give you an instant advantage.
2-The glow time is relative to light conditions and eye adaptation.

On the flip side.....If you have plain gun sights the answers are:
1-Forever
2-Never.....Ha, ha!

In fact 'll make a separate post for this great question.

guys used to use this trick for IPSC night matches, albeit much successfully, almost 40 years ago, before tritium sights existed for civilians.

Individual needs can be met by Glow-On applications.
You are not limited by a manufacturer's limitations

Keep in mind other manufacturers products are translucent, unlike Glow-On which is opaque.

BTW.. It will set you back just the cost of a fast food meal.

A question
message
I love your product, my friends are using it after they saw my gun-sights. My glow on is becoming a little thick . What can I cut it with?
Hello, thanks for your message.
Add a couple of drops of water at a time until you get the desired consistency.
After you have finished your work with Glow-On, clean the mouth of the vial and add a drop or two of water to the top, don't mix at this point.
Store vertically in a fresh place.
Avid storing paint in a hot shed or garage, the change in temperatures will dry the binder of any type.
the next time you open the vial the paint will be fresh and creamy.
If there is any excess of water on the top, just tilt the vial, pour the excess and mix again.

Hope this helps, Gato

Every 15 min you need to recharge it
It varies really...since perception is a relative term, an absolute number is impractical.

At a very basic level, if you leave a vial of paint over your night table..you'll be able to see it every time you wake up for the duration of the night.
That is, we can see clearly the vial every time we go to the bathroom.....Because your eyes are adapted to darkness.
If we can see the vial, then we should be able to see our gun sights...... so far so good, right?
In the presence of light however, even the initial glow, which is very intense, can't be seen.

Perception is a relative term and the brain functions as an equalizer , for instance:
With artificial light sources around us, the night sky looks empty, in its absence the night sky is full of stars.
With artificial light sources around us, the glow is not there, in its absence, the glow magically re-appears.

Our brain equalizes by adapting to either environment, so we can either see stars or see bright light bulbs.
but, not both....

So how can we manage?
Everything we do has to be managed, from putting one foot in front of the other to flying an airplane.
firing a gun, hitting a target, using Glow-On, etc.

In the case for Glow-On is quite simple:
Always have handy a tactical lamp along with Glow-On, to venture into a dark area.
The glow can be re-kindled in a second plus we need to be able to see a target.
