The guys at the gun shop described it as basically a wholesaler service. If you buy on gun-genie they notify the local shop of the sale and ship it to them.
I also asked about their FFL transfer fee if I find something on gunbroker.com. They told me, if it's NIB, they can nearly always match the price, otherwise, they charge $25.

Great site, only problem I had was it wouldn't let me send a rifle to a dealer in NH because my residence is in Maine (live near nh border). Wasn't a big deal though as I contacted the dealer and they placed the order for me.
Davidson's inventory will show for any dealer that has on online store.It's works IF your local dealer subscribes to their program and keeps their inventory list updated.
The inventory shown is not for the actual gun shop, it is Davidson's inventory, and they (Davidsons) ship the item to the local shop along with a check for the purchase. If you pay the full amount you own nothing at your local dealer, if you put the 50% down, Davidson's sends that half payment with the gun to the dealer and you pay the rest when you go pick up your gun.
If you see an item that is listed as allocated that means that those high demand items are shipped to dealers based on their volume of business with Davidsons. If it is a shop out of someones house or low volume dealer you don't have a very good chance of getting the "allocated" item. If it is a large volume dealer you stand a much better chance of getting the item in the near future.
Each dealer with the store sets their margins with Davidsons and that is how the price is figured differently for each dealer out of the same inventory that Davidsons keeps on hand.
