Thinking about taking the family to the Smith Co. (Tyler, TX) state fair tomorrow, and I just wanted to know if anyone in that area has heard about any hassles for CHL's entering the fairgrounds.

Just the obligatory "no weapons" blurb. Other than that, no mention. Guess I'll just scope things out when I get there.

I was there yesterday. I did not carry, but I did not see any "signs" prohibiting it. There were LEO's at the gate, but there were no metal detectors or bag checks. Also, could you please tell me where you saw the "no weapons" blurb on their website? I could not find it.

Sure...it was on this page:

Rental Rules & Regulations

As it turned out, they did have a "gunbuster" sign up at the entrance, but that obviously didn't apply to CHLs. No metal detectors, no hassle. So, go enjoy your 2A rights and the fair!
