Went to gun show this morning and sinned! Me, czman, looking for a CZ-75B Compact .40 and not finding one came home with --- A GLOCK 23! My first Glock -- and I LIKE IT!!! Haven't shot it yet, have to practice disassembly/assembly and get familiar with it but it really looks and feels great in my hand. Now if only I could actually get 13 rounds in the mags instead of only 12. Anyone else have that problem or is it just me? Going to the range Monday!:biggrin2:

Congrats on the new piece

I still have three 10 round mags for 226 - only one of which will take #10 ok - the other two require a Herculean effort to stuff #10.!

Yes. A buddy of mine has a Glock 23. Very nice. Harder than heck to get that last round in there. Check out the first item on this page-

http://www.gunaccessories.com/ButlerCreek/ShootingNecessities.asp

I have seen a small plastic deal that fits on the top of the mag and pushes the last round down easier than using your thumb. Call the Thumb Saver or something like that I think. Retails for about four dollars. I suggest it. That last round is tough. Doesn't sound like they ease up at all. That item in the link is kinda pricey- 22 dollars or something. I four dollar piece of plastic is what you need. If you can't find one, let me know and I'll see where the guy got his.

Enjoy your Glock.

edit- oops. just revisited the link i sent you. says no go for glocks. sorry. like I said, if you can't find something, let me know.

Congrats....
I Have 4 GLOCKS, 37, 33 ,32 and 30....
as stated above the mags will break in, my G32 mags will both hold 14 (go figure...)
as for as field stripping and reassembly just follow your manual and you'll find it's a breeze....
they're ugly and utilitarian, but hard to beat as far a reliability is concerned.....

BTW, get a .357 Sig barrel for it and you'll be in for a real treat!

I didn't intend to even look at the Glocks when I decided I wanted to "get back into" guns. . .

But the G23 is the one that called out to me and I bought it.

NO regrets!

A few months later, my wife picked out her own G26, all by herself.

Took it apart and reassembled it a couple of times last night, piece of cake! But I can put a .357 mag barrel in this? Will I need new mags?

Although I am a huge Sig fan, it's hard to ignore Glocks. They're rugged and you can buy nearly two Glocks for the price of a Sig.

Some have problems with the Glock trigger, but aside from safety issues, which are contraversial, I love Glock triggers and always have.

I've been wanting a a 2nd gen G-19 (compact 9mm) - no rails and no finger grooves.

The mag on my Taurus is the same way. I can get #15 in the first few times, but after a few reloads, my thumb gets fatigued. But, I guess if you have 11 rounds, you'll likely be just fine with them. Plus, I'm sure you carry an extra mag.

Yes to the barrel no to the mags

You can go stock glock barrel or EFK fire Dragon barrel

Or KKM

Thanks, Bud White, for the info but what does KKM stand for? Forgive my ignorance! BTW, I loved the 10 John Brownings thing!

KKM is a barrel manufacturer. You can also pick up a 9mm conversion barrel and a couple of 9mm mags and have a choice of three different calibers.
BTW Congratulations I have two Glocks a 22 and 37 and enjoy both.

Thanks for the info about the barrels and all the support. I now have 10 handguns and have taken advanced safety/shooting courses and have my CCW permit but I'm just learning about ballistics and such. Nice to have such a wealth of knowledge here folks are willing to share.
