Total rounds, I fired 10 and have the 40 remaining from that box. I had it examined by Colonel Bill Mapoles who is a Colt Collector and he said quote, "few".
Mas Ayoob examined it when he and Gail were staying with us and he said it is in excellent condition. He was looking to do an article on my Colt Collection.
I got it from a Mexican Policman who was a local lawman in a small Mexican town. He was desperate to get a Sig 229. (8 years ago) He said that the gun had been a gift to his father in law who had died at the U of A Cancer Center and his fife told him to trade it for the Sig.
I had a new Sig 229 I had just gotten from the Ft. Huachuca Sportsman's Center.
I like Colts and Colonel Mapoles called me up to see this gun. He was getting into long range Black Powder shooting at the time and would have bought the Colt if I didn't want it.

If you decide on it you will have the same decision to make as I did, the 10 rounds I shot were at 25 meters and they were in the dead center at POA.

Do you carry or do you show.

An offer has already been made but it is contingent on the fellow selling another gun and I told him I'm selling to the first legitimate buyer as I want to attend Ayoob;s LFI III for my Police Instructor Certificate.

Just FYI to anybody concerned about an exact "round count" in a Colt 1911 pistol.

1,000 rounds is about equivalent to none with a Colt factory steel frame, slide, & barrel.

I have Colt pistols that have shown absolutely no discernible or visible indications of wear after their first 1,000 rounds...save for slight wearing of the bluing on the frame rails and some minor scuff marks inside the magazine well from slamming my magazines home.

Added just as a general FYI.

One beautiful weapon for sure. Would it be possible to get more pictures?

Never mind... Brain damaged moment. Texas just passed a bill that allows us to buy in a bordering state and return to Texas with the firearm. I was thinking New Mexico instead of Arizona.

Ever thought about shipping? My FFL holder charges $35 to ship and $20 to receive. Cheaper than most.

Actually, I misread the bill.
SB 1188 authorizes a Texas resident to buy firearms, ammunition or firearms accessories in any other state, not just those contiguous to Texas, to reflect updated federal statutes.
This bill becomes effective on September 1st. If you still have it by that time, we can discuss. I will be in Phoenix around the middle of September.
