Gerber myth

In been looking at the folder with a pocket clip to replace my current edc utility knife (note I said utility, not defense).

For those of you what have one tell me how well do you find the rubberized handle to hold up? Is there a lot of give? Do you think the blade can easily break from the handle with little force?

Unfortunately I don't have even half way decent knife stores around here so I can't get ahold of one myself unless I buy it online.

This is the knife I carry everyday. Very well built, I use it for everything..

GERBER 169 spring assisted opening pocket knife $16.9,Wholesale Clasp Knife,Cheap Clasp Knife On Sale
I keep a Gerber FAST in my range bag. Excellent tool, nice one-handed opening. Gerber 22-47162 Fast Draw Spring Assisted Opening Stainless Steel Fine Edge Knife - Amazon.com
x2 On the Gerber Fast Draw, got an early stamped one from Portland, before everything went to Taiwan or China, Yuck! With that said, I EDC my Kershaw BLUR S30V which is still from Oregon, U.S.of A! Best Spring Assisted Pocket knife I have ever owned, compared to benchmades, SOGs, Gerber's etc...
every gerber tool/knife I have owned has failed me eventually. Not saying they are bad, just wouldnt be my first choice.

I started carrying a Kershaw Clash about a year ago. As far as "utility", I haven't used it as a screwdriver or hammer but it is sharp and spring assist opening.

Lol thanks everyone. However I'm really just looking for input on the myth mentioned above.

I hear that about gerber a failing (especially the multitool i had of theirs) and I thought the same thing until I got the ar 3.00 for free a few years ago. It's been a great knife and I wouldn't even be looking to replace it. But that dang electric sharpener about ground down half the blade. Anyway I'll get another ar 3.00 if I don't hear good things about the myth.
I carried a Gerber fast for a couple years. Handle and blade held up well. But it had a tendency for the screws to loosen. I lost a couple before I realized what was happening. Gerber sent me some replacements and I finally put some loc tite on them too. Then I upgraded to a Spyderco Delica with Emerson Wave. Similar to the FAST, but thinner and lighter.
I have a Gerber muti tool and have for a longggg time now. Ive used the poor thing for everything from cutting barbed wire, to working on motorcycles and trucks. skinning deer in a pinch, plumbing. It works like new never bent or broke and it has lived a very rough life. Havent had their knifes but at least the multi tool ive got has been so far as durable as an anvil. Even the pouch hung tough and doubles as a extra mag carrier if i need one :yup:
I guess I'm missing the part where I asked about all these other knives. :twak:
I'm curious as to the "Gerber myth." I clicked on the thread to learn something about the myth and I still haven't read about it.....
Not sure how great the newer knives are but I beat the heck out of a old LST with the 600 steel blade. It still seems to hold a edge better than other knives.
This is not the folder but it is a Myth. I forget how long ago this was posted, but I have used this knive quite a bit for what I describe in the review below and the blade and handle have held up very well. It still looks new and takes an edge easily. I use he in case sharpener a lot but also use stones.
Hope it helps some.

Thanks, unfortunately there isn't any perceived weakness in the fixed blade model. The folder has a space for the blade inside the handle. The handle is made out of rubber material. So this hollow space inside of a rubber handle is where the potential for weakness will occur. Thanks for trying though :)

Anyone else?
If you want an answer about a "myth" how about you tell us what it is?

The Gerber Myth is a line of knives made by Gerber. He is asking specifically about the Gerber Myth folder. I assume h emeans this one: Gerber 31-001088 Myth Pocket Folder, Fine Edge Folding Lock-Back Clip Knife - Amazon.com

Took me a bit to figure out he wasn't talking about an urban legend or similar.
I carry a Gerber paraframe
I thought they were only meant for opening jars of baby food.
