i picked up my ordered springfield TRP as planned, but when i walked around the counter to look for holsters this O.D. green glock 31 .357sig called my name. i picked it up and put it down and picked it up and put it down. i told them to put it away, i didnt want it and as im making my way towards the register to pay for the new springfield i went back and told them to box the glock up too.

the TRP is amazing. shooting it is a real pleasure. i tell the bullets where to hit, and they comply. my groups are tighter than ever (from a handgun, anyway). the only downside to the TRP is that i feel its to nice to carry when im camping/hunting for fear of banging it up. perhaps this will pass after the "new" wears off it. my brother gave me the "i wouldnt own a gun i was scared of scratching" bit, but its not like i dont have 2 dozen others to choose from when im roughing it.

the glock is a fine shooter too, especially considering it sold for about 1/3 the cost of the TRP. its not in the same league in terms of tolerances, but (despite the very rapid, almost "sharp" recoil of the .357 sig) its relatively smooth and i wouldn't hesitate to trust it with my life just the same. the only real downside (thats also an asset in many ways) is the lack of a safety. i can lay a 1911 beside me in the bed and i know that between the trigger, thumb safety, and grip safety that the possibility of an AD isnt a realistic concern. with the glock i would be uncomfortable laying it anywhere unholstered. laying it on the truck seat or anywhere unholstered would be a bad idea.

partially out of 1911 loyalty, and partly out of ignorance i resisted buying a glock for many years. i regret having waited so long, its one amazing tool. the only downside i find is the grip angle, but that can be corrected by filling the pocket with a laser grip. the wifey enjoyed everything about my g31 except for the recoil....we're ordering a g19 for her.

Nothing wrong with either i switch back and forth between a 1911 and Glock for carry laying it on night stand i dont worry about but dont think i would want to carry it or have it on truck seat with out a holster either...

i resisted many years from buying one and now have had 2 sold my 36 and am picking upa 20 friday or sat when it comes in ..

Fit and finsh isnt like a 1911 for sure but cost is about half

i regret not buying them when they were cheeper So now im picking up the few to round out the last few guns i want a 22 is on the menu after the 20

Glockitis has struck again!! Welcome aboard BTW.

I have resisted Glocks for ages - but have to ''come clean'' - back in summer my club was used to host a company day of fun - which included some nice full auto toys! !!

We did tho too coutesy of a Glock rep not only have a G18 to fun with but - 14 IIRC NIB 17's.

At end of session when I was doing RSO duty - where folks used these to shoot a turning target shoot - I took one and tried it. Much as I am SIG now - daily carry - I was near amazed at how well that darned thing would shoot (9mm this one). Still not a fan of the manual of arms re safety but - one day I may just get tempted - a G19 perhaps.

Who knows - the disease may take hold.

plus i think smaller you go the more the grip angle alters it shooting high or low .. might just be me on that though

Nice gun! oh ya and nice glock too.

I just cannot bring myself to buy a Glock or any other polymer gun for that matter. I guess I am still like you were about it, not that there is anything wrong with them (Glock's and polymers in general) I just can't warm up to them at all.

Nice day at the gun shop though.

Now i just like some of the Glock what can i say and cost ..

Just rember a glock is like the 1911 once you buy one its down the slippery slope to having more than one

Alright, I do have to admit that the G18 full auto with like 33 rounds in it that I got to shoot at my CCW class was pretty cool indeed. 33 rounds in like 1.5 seconds! hundreds of rounds went through that gun that day, women and men were shooting it and never was there a jam, FTF or FTE all day. I remember being impressed with it and wanting one.

thanks. ive actually been here awhile, im the guy that owns survivalcache.com but something happened to my account. after i failed to revalidate my email it put my account inactive and wouldnt let me access the forum. apparently it wiped my other posts and started my account over again. i contacted the owner earlier tonight and got my access reinstated.

i was very excited when i got the call that the TRP i ordered had arrived. when i left to pick it up the last thing i ever expected to do was buy a glock on impulse.

no buyers remorse here, im glad i bought it.

my USP 45 is a great gun too, but i like my g31 a lot more. in fact the more i shoot it, the more i like it. i was also reluctant to buy into the .357 auto caliber, but i have no regrets there either. aside from the ammo being ridiculously expensive, its one hot, nasty round. with outstanding energy and penetration (566 ft. lbs. in cor-bon 125gr) im surprised its not more popular. if the benefits of this round ever become common knowledge amongst regular shooters, its sure to gain in popularity.

Aleast ya hope so, or it could go the way of the 10mm.

Nothing wrong with Glock, but after carrying a 1911 grip angle pistol , I don't want to change and try to adgust my natural point of aim . I find Glocks point high for me, so I'm sticking with my HK USP and my 1911.

I have a few Glocks, and alot of others to choose from when I carry.
I shoot the 357 Sig out of my G29 (A 10mm gun) and it's a fantastic shooter. :biggrin2: I'm sure you'll find a 40 cal BBL for your G31 and shoot the heck out of that cartridge too. :image035: The TRPs come into the store, and get snapped up REAL QUICK, whether new or used.
Oh BTW, WELCOME to the forum!!!

Just don't see a need for a .357 sig. caliber. the 10mm made a bit more sense to me. So can anyone tell me why the .357 sig was developed?
