Hello to all! As a newbie, this is my first post so hello to all. Last Wednesday, Oct. 14, I submitted my application for an Ohio License to Carry a Concealed Handgun. This was done, by appointment, at 3 PM at the Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Sheriff's Department which is located in downtown Cleveland.

After hearing all kinds of horror stories beforehand, I did not know what to expect. But I was treated with the utmost respect and the person I was dealing with even cracked a joke or two! The process went very well without a hitch.

Again, that was Wednesday, Oct. 14. Well, imagine my surprise when on Saturday, Oct. 17, I received my permit in the mail! No fuss, no muss!

So it looks like the new sheriff of Cuyahoga County Ohio has got it together when it comes to getting things done.

So what am I carrying? A Smith & Wesson Model 3914 loaded with 124-grain 9mm.

Hello again to all. And thanks for letting me share my good news with all of you.

Welcome and Congratulations!

Is the 3914 the Blued version of the 3913? Nice choice. I have the S&W 6906 (25 oz) and just purchased a Chief's Special 45 ACP (CS45). The former is a 12 shot stainless while the latter is 6 shot semi-auto stainless (23 oz).

I am a huge S&W 3rd Generation Semi-Auto fan!

Jetpilot007: I have seen several different variations of the 3913 but have only seen one variation of the 3914. They are all very similar, though, and the 3914 that I have is blue. I purchased mine new back in about 1991 or so and hope that I never have to part with it.

I, too, am a huge S&W 3rd Gen Semi-Auto Fan. I have one of the very first Model 4006. When I bought it, I went out to get some ammo for it and not only did nobody have any, they had never even heard of .40 S&W!

That was an amazing turnaroud time on your permit.

Congratulations on your new permit, and welcome to the site! It's a different world once you take responsibilty for your own safety, but we've all had to learn how to adjust. I'm sure you'll have no trouble with that as well. :yup:
