With all of the talk about what is the correct thing to tell the police, Mas's advice vs. "I was afraid for my life" to say absolutely nothing, I have never seen this show up here, and I did search.

Gun Cam for Pistols, HD Gun Camera & Gun Cameras | Pistol Mounting

Has anyone considered the possibility of mounting this to a carry pistol? Granted, it's bulky and it would need some kind of pressure activation like a crimson trace, and there would be situations where it would be useless (dark, for capturing the actual moment of the shot impacting etc).

But given that it captures sound and video, it could go a long way towards saving your bacon legally in a defensive scenario.

Not suggesting, selling, or advocating. Just interested to know what people think.

Even if it could be made completely weightless and add nothing to the bulk, it's a bad idea for a SD. The camera is going to record from a split second before you fire, until you holster... assuming it doesn't switch off during the shot. It's not going to show anything leading up to the shoot. None of his threats. None of your attempts to diffuse the situation or get away.

Can't see how a pic of a guy getting shot is going to help you in court, unless it happens to be with the right lighting and range to show he's holding a weapon.

If you wanted a cam, I'd say go with a lapel cam like some departments are now issuing. But I don't have a desire to be Truman.

Now as for a tool to do some training videos... well it might have promise.

Doesn't show what precipitated the shooting so IMO it's useless on a carry gun. It might be of minimal use on a home defense gun. I'll take my chances without it.

Could easily be a 'two-edged sword'...I'd say it's NOT a good idea for John Q. Citizen.:nono:

It's the prosecution's job to provide proof of a crime. Don't give one evidence.

Yep. Too often many people on this board think they will help themselves by "proving" they didn't comment a crime. The legal term for this misconception is "bass ackwards." It's Latin. Look it up.

I saw a video on youtube where a guy had a camera on his gun, not sure how he mounted it, but it was at the muzzle pointing backwards. It was super clear that he wasn't shooting of the trigger reset at all! That video made me think a camera on the gun mounted that way would be a good training too.
