And with pictures of little Suzie and Jimmy holding "assault rifles" in school they are trying to infer that these other things (like certain books, games, and foods) are banned in schools and these guns are not (especially by kids) is making them look like complete and total idiots.

From the article:
She went on to explain that her organization was not advocating for "a ban on guns," but rather sought "middle-ground solutions" such as required background checks and a ban on assault weapons and magazines of more than 10 rounds.
We're not trying to ban guns. We're just trying to ban guns.

Also, there are very few places that allow anybody other than law enforcement to possess firearms in schools. Let alone, as BugDude said, by children.
But you guys already know that.

Let's see...all the things banned by governmental policy...can't even list 'em all; too many.

But of course the kiddies are all so more well adjusted today than 30 or 40 years ago...

Suicide rates skyrocketing.
Cutting
More diagnosis of ADD
Special classes for the kiddies
Outcome based education (screw the grades)
12 year olds suing parents

Anyone ever see mission control images during the Apollo moon missions?
Hmm? Smoking like bandits; eating pizza and drinking coffee.
Average age of mission flight controllers=25
Average college degree= B.S

..and we went to the moon (arguably the greatest tech achievement by mankind) with the talent, drive and hard work ethic of these people?
Go figure.
