So, my middle son has been a part of his Explorer patrol with our local PD here in town, and despite all the bad press and craziness these days, he still wants to be a cop one day.

He also constantly bugs me about being able to dry fire and practice with my G34 because "it's like the service weapons they issue"...... I tell him, not exactly.

With that being said, I put out feelers with friends in the gun business, because all the craziness has led to a serious, and I do mean serious shortage of necessary hardware named "Glock". Until today. I got the call, so I headed on over to my buddys place and pick up the G22, Gen 4.......

Somebody's gonna have a BIG surprise come Tuesday!

Happy Birthday to your Son! You're a GREAT Dad too! You brought up a GREAT Kid! Tell him to follow his Dreams...... One LEO Dad to another...(My Oldest son (31) is a Police Officer. (been on the job 5 yrs now) He continues to go out there, even with all that BS stuff on TV. (Well, I kinda filled his "Bag" with 10 AR Magpul Mags, and another 10 extra mags for his Glock 17 Duty gun) I want him to come Home every night at End of Watch.

Nice move. I am sure he will treasure that pistol always.
The best feeling is watching a kids face light up when you do something like that for them.
Yessir, this one is gonna really surprise him he doesn't see this coming at all....

But, since things have gotten a little easier financially, my boys are getting geared up. This year it's appropriate handguns, next year it will be ARs for everybody, and then scatter guns to follow.

In the next year or so, we will have a fully armed and operational 4-man fire team here.......

I did the same thing with my son when he was about 19. Here it is legal to own and possess one at that age, just not buy one. He also was in Explorers and was working Dispatch at a major university PD. He was going out and competing in explorers competitions and one of those was shooting and firearms. I got him a G22 as well.

He was waiting until 21 to go to academy. He is now 34. He eventually went on to the academy, graduated top in his class (JP Strom award) and up until about 6 months ago was a detective in the Sheriffs office. Hes now working over in the Philippines for an organization called IJM that finds and recovers children enslaved. I think hes paid by some government grant but hes in the legal section of that group. They actually conduct raids in cooperation with the local authority wherever in the world they find the kids. They extract them and get them to a safe place to recover and be taken care of. There is a lot of evil out there. These kids are sometimes even sold by their parents. Often into the online porn trades. So... their is a long story of how a simple gun can end up being an avenue to good.

Tell him happy birthday

I failed to mention that I wrote him a letter documenting I had purchased and given him the firearm to keep in its case. In case anyone questioned him having possession of it. Since it was only a requirement to be 18 to possess and yet 21 to purchase.
