I need your help finding a Colt Python hammer spring. I called Colt and the customer service department told me that since they no longer make the Python, parts are no longer available. Jack First gun parts is having them made, but they also ran into a bit of a problem so who knows how much longer it will take (so far I've been waiting 8 months). Seems everyone else is out of stock. So if any of you know where I can find one please let me know.

Thanks,
Rhome

Are you referring to the V shaped mainspring?

Most likely a spring from two other Colt models, the Official Police or the Officer's Model would interchange with no discernible difference. Keep your eye peeled for one of those which are generally available and inexpensive. Purchase it for little cash outlay and install it to see if it won't solve the problem.

I have a Python, Official Police, and Officer's Model and have observed that they APPEAR to be the same when inspecting the revolvers side-by-side with side plates removed. Many other parts interchange between these models.

I think you will find that if you send the gun back to Colt they will fix it with a new spring. I would ask them first. Colt actually sent me a new v-main spring for free for my Python. The first call they said to send the gun back. On the second call they said they would send me a new spring for free. This was a year ago. It might also be worth it to have them clean it and check the timing.
