Here's a question

Not to get political, but it is what it is, rules or not.

For some odd reason, I have a (politically driven) feeling that in about a month, things are gonna get wild. A month after that, it'll be out of control. Again. And it might just make the Obama Gun Run of 2013 look like a walk in the park.

So. I suppose I can weather the upcoming storm. I am in far better shape than last time. And I suspect that most of you are too.

I can buy a lot of ammo and some more magazines during the next month. And call it good.

Or I can buy a Glock 19 and a few spare mags. Lord knows I don't need it. I'm HK'd to a fare thee well, 1911, j frame, PPQ, even a G26.

But I have an itch for one. And it'll be one of the first guns to disappear overnight, should things not go well in November.

But so will ammo and mags. Common sense tells me that this would be the way to go.

Gun greed says get the Glock and hope ammo doesn't vanish (which it is sure to do).

Leaning towards ammo and mags.

"Hope" isn't much of a plan & you've already answered your own question. IMHO, buy some extra g17 mags (FOR your G26) and ammo-up! :yup:

The best thing to stock up on when you get to feeling this way is time away from newscasts. Turn off the news, put down the paper, and don't scour the internet for breaking news.

After a few weeks you'll get reset to normal and the dismal spew of the talking heads won't invoke panicky feelings.

To be honest, the way I interpert your post is that you are looking for an excuse to legitimize your foreseen purchase and using the upcoming election as an excuse, am I reading this correctly? Who ever wins Trump or Clinton, the Sun will rise in the East, set in the West. Ammo and Guns will be available, nothing will change. The only thing that led to the ammo shortage during last Presidential Cycle was fear. You had people literally buying skids of ammo until Wally began its rationing. After Obama has done nothing to take away my rights when he was in office I doubt things will change who ever the next pour soul sits in the WH. Just my thoiughts...

Local news is all I watch. And I'm not a panic guy.

But many others are, and they will. This is a simple planning ahead exercise.

I recently bought a Glock 22 with a few extra magazines for it; I like it and its useful regardless of the election.

If you're like me you need mags....magazines for everything, thousands of dollars in magazines (of course at 30-50 bucks each a grand doesn't take long to eat up) Of course thousands of dollars in ammo or components is also a good thing to invest in.
sounds like you're looking for an excuse to buy a G19...heck it's only money so just do it, then you can move on to the next "must have" :)
Might pick up a few more 9MM and 38Super mags, already have plenty in 45ACP.

I would agree with you except for this: If Clinton wins, she will be able to stack the SCOTUS with probably up to 4 liberal judges, and then she will be able to have her way with her anti 2A campaign. Obama did not have a favorable (to him) court to work with and could not make the changes he wanted.

For any other issues, I agree with you, no matter who is elected we can survive 4-8 years, but I fear for the 2A if Clinton gets in. I know there are many who do not trust Trump either, but there is at least a chance he supports the 2A, with Clinton.. no chance.

I'm another person suggesting you take a break from the false reality of the press for a couple of weeks. If you need to go buy something, go buy ammo and mags. That's the best bang for your buck, no pun intended.
Really it doesn't matter if you think there's gonna be a gun crash or not, enough people believe that there will be so much, that they will make it happen themselves. Most of these ammo shortages have occurred because of panic, understandable panic, but the reason that they were panicing wasn't the reason for the shortages, it was the panic itself.

All that said, I'm buying ammo once a month and making sure I buy more than I shoot.
Wow. Most of you guys must be new to the game.

Clinton Round 1 made repeated claims that he was in favor of the 2nd. Until he wasn't. Enter the AWB 1994-2004.

Obama made repeated claims that he wasn't against the 2nd. Until he was. After Sandy Hook, he went after guns with a vengeance.

Make no mistake, fellas. He'd have cleaned us out. Congress and the NRA saved our bacon. Or did you miss all that?

And now, Clinton The Sequel is about to be unleashed. But this one has made repeated claims that she IS in favor of gun control.

But hey, don't mind me. I'm not suggesting what you fellas do. Be your own dogs.

In 2013, 45 was difficult to find, M&P 9 magazines went for 120 each on the forums, and 9 had degraded from endangered to mythical. To say nothing of 5.56 or the DPMS rifles going for 1700 bucks.

And it'll happen again, the usual cycle.

Since this topic has undergone a derailment of epic proportions, I expect it to be locked down very soon. So I'm out.

FWIW, I elected to go with ammo and magazines. I never have required an "excuse" to buy a gun.

Yep. Plus, potentially pre-ban Glock mags will be worth their weight in gold should a mag limit ban come to pass.

IMO, if you're looking for low cost items to invest in, Glock and AR mags, AR lowers (even cheap hybrids), and ammo of just about any caliber.

I have been going the route of more ammo, more mags and adding a few guns to the safe. It's a slow process for me cause I can't afford to just go out and buy all that i want in one shot. How much ammo is enough? I guess that's something we each have to decide. I am in the beginning stages of reloading. Hopefully people won't go into panic mode. I suppose I am already in panic mode.
