I'm currently serving a 90 day sentence ordered by my spouse to be spent in her ancestral bungalow in New York. I can't carry in NY and I feel a bit anxious about that. That is especially true after reading the Syracuse NY paper this morning.
The Knockout Game is apparently quite wide spread and certainly not confined to upstate NY.

But it has become prominent enough in bucolic upstate Syracuse to garner a spot on page A5 of The Post Standard. Interesting headlines include having one's eyes knocked out and other fun injuries of a similar sort including death.

Knockout Game victim?s eye kicked out of socket
The sub heading on one of the articles is: "So far one dead, multiple victims beaten in Syracuse"
The simple idea of this game is to select someone at random and then aproach and try to knock him out with a single blow; if that doesn't work, then your gang of friends can stomp and beat the random victim to death.
Gee, in Florida, I would at least be protected by Florida Statute 784.08
784.08 - - 2012 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate
Wherein battery of a person over age 65 is a felony of the third degree and assault (of a senior) a misdemeanor of the first degree.
But I think my best protection would be my Glock 36. I wish I was allowed to carry it in NY....
What are some of your reasons to carry?
